Forget having a green thumb – having a red thumb is far more important. Why? Because the #RedThumb movement represents a pledge to not text and drive – ever. The idea was started by a man named Steve Babcock, who painted his thumbnails red as a reminder to himself to put down his phone when he had the urge to reach for it while driving. By “Sticking out like a sore thumb”, Steve helped remind himself of what is really important – not getting caught up in dangerous distractions while behind the wheel. Nissan is supporting this message with their campaign to get others joining in the #RedThumb movement. Check out this PSA they just released featuring Adam Levine:
I never, ever text while driving and I never will. That is why I donned a pair of long red gloves for this photo as my pledge: These flashy gloves look like something SpiderWoman would wear to go ballroom dancing, so you can’t miss them!
Tomorrow, December 16th, is officially Red Thumb Day. Won’t you join me in turning your thumb red and pledge not to text while driving?
