I made this recipe as a challenge with some of the people I’ve met that work at Johnsonville. They told me that to make a meat loaf with italian sausage I would have to do half sausage and half hamburger meat and I said nope, I’m going to make the sausage work and I did. My husband likes it so much he said we have to call it pizza loaf because meat loaf just isn’t good enough for what I created. So here is my Italian Sausage Pizza loaf and I’m using it to enter the Italian Inspiration recipe contest on the Johnsonville Kitchens Facebook Page.

I used Oatmeal
To make my pizza loaf
Johnsonville Italian Sausage Pizza Loaf Recipe
1 lb Johnsonville Italian Sausage
1 1/4 cup quick cook oats
1 cup crushed saltine crackers
1/3 cup tomato sauce
1 cup cooked carrots
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (or cheese of your choice)
Dipping Sauce or Topping Ingredients
1 Tablespoon Oil
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a food processor process the oatmeal and crackers.
De-case the sausage and then add the sausage to the food processor along with the egg
Add the tomato sauce, cheese and carrots
Process until well mixed.
Place in a baking dish and cook for an hour or until the temperature reaches 160 degrees F.
Heat the oil tomato sauce and parmesan cheese over a skillet.
Top with tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese mixture
