The funniest press conference I’ve ever attended was last week’s Ghostbusters event at the Four Seasons. The panel, moderated by Marc Malkin of E! News, included Ghostbusters producer Ivan Reitman, director & writer Paul Feig and screenwriter Katie Dippold, along with stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. When you have three of the most gifted comedians around together in one room, it’s no surprise when the quips start coming, and I spent the majority of the press conference laughing! In keeping with the spirit of fun, I thought I’d ask a lighthearted question during the Q&A.
Beeb Ashcroft: If you could turn into a ghost to haunt your castmates, what form would you choose?
Leslie Jones: I would be hummus. ‘Cause they love hummus. And as soon as they bit their carrot in it, I’d go BLAAAH! (laughter)
Paul Feig: Every day was like this on the set.
Melissa McCarthy: I would take the form of some kind of Tabby cat, and I would go live with Kate, and I would know a kind of pampering that I have never experienced.
Leslie Jones: You should see the inappropriate pictures she send me with her cat.
Kate McKinnon: Leslie! This is airing live!
Melissa McCarthy: Covered in diamonds…
Kate McKinnon: Yes, I would shower you with affection. And play with you and make sure you got exercise and all the good stuff. Love my cat.
Marc Malkin: Is this all material for the sequel script? Hummus ghost?
Katie Dippold: I think I’m gonna use it for – we’re developing “Female Baker” next…
E! News streamed the press conference on Facebook Live, so you can watch the entire press conference below – my question appears just after the 13:28 mark:
