Heaven is For Real is all about Colton Burpo who had a near death experience when he was 4 years old. He became very very sick was hospitalized and while he was in he hospital he went to heaven. Now many in our world don’t believe this story because it was thought that you had to die to go to heaven but Colton came back with images that can be found directly described in the bible. And four year old little boys do not speak bible talk.
Connor did such an amazing job playing Colton, the Burpo family even said that Connor was a gift from God for the movie because he’s so much like Colton in real life. Boys are full of energy, talk in waves and don’t make eye contact which as a mother drives me crazy and Connor did it naturally. The director even said, Connor did such an amazing job because through most of it, he wasn’t acting. They were able to catch a child saying his lines while playing and being full on boy!
In our round table interview we asked him if he was afraid of Rosie the spider in Colorado?.
His response was no way. His mother said that was actually the hardest of the scene for Connor to play because he wasn’t afraid of the spider. He had to pretend to be afraid for an entire day before he got to do his scene and hold the spider. He did give Greg Kinnear away by telling us that Greg is afraid of spiders. LOL, I’m afraid of spiders!
I asked Connor if he likes being an actor?
He said YES, It’s SO FUN!
That’s such a boys answer and I asked because my little red head wants to become an actor. Even more so after being in the redwood forest and I told him that the Star Wars Ewok movie was filmed there.
Then we asked about the scene when he was sick, How did he get through that?
He gave us another very simple answer and said that He just did. His mother on the other hand told us that he had to drink juice and he doesn’t really like juice. He had to drink the juice over and over and over again so that he could spit it up.
We asked him who he would want to be in a movie with?
Greg Kinnear really made an impression on Connor because he wants to be in another movie with Greg. Greg really helped him through his scenes and was really just a great guy for Connor to work with.
Someone else asked him how he prepared for the emotional scenes?
In childlike form he just stared at us blankly. Connor is the same age as my son and he can’t fully process these deep emotions and it was very important to the director that his mother didn’t coach him. So she said that to help him, the night before a scene they would talk about what it’s like for a mom to lose a baby inside her or how important it was for someone to know that a relative of theirs was in heaven.
Final conclusion is go see the movie just to see Connor Corum. He’s amazing in Heaven is For Real.
