The Bad Moms press day was all about girl power. After chatting with Mila Kunis and Kathryn Hahn, we were joined by Christina Applegate and Annie Mumolo, who portray the film’s dreaded PTA mean moms. Mumolo and Applegate are a riot in real life, bantering back and forth with jokes as soon as they walked out. In our previous interview, Kunis had specifically referred to the great chemistry that the cast had, which was apparent both in watching the film and seeing the stars interact in real life. Bad Moms looked like it would have been a blast to make, so I asked Applegate and Mumolo what their favorite memories were from the filming.
“Talking with all the girls in a circle in our chairs about politics and our children,” said Applegate. “That was the conversation every day. It went back and forth from being a mother and politics, mother, politics, mother, politics, mother, politics. They kind of go hand in hand because one’s going to form the future for our offspring as well. Sorry for the language, but they be f**ked.”
“We all got the flu,” began Mumolo, which caused Applegate to jokingly interject, “That’s your favorite part? She was on death’s door.”
“I died a little. I died,” agreed Mumolo. “But, no, everybody was so supportive. Like, I was very sick, and Jada [Pinkett Smith] was sick, and Christina sent this big box of hot toddy mix, and which I drank the whole thing.”
“You would text me, ‘I don’t even need the tea.’ You’re like, I’m just going to have the whiskey,” said Applegate.
“I didn’t drink the tea. It was the whiskey. I thought if I’m going to die tonight, I’m going to go down good. Yes. Drunk,” laughed Mumolo. Spoken like a true “Bad Mom”!
