Multicenter Family Vacations Made Easy
Guest Post
For family vacationers – especially those with babies, toddlers, or young children – a single destination for the annual get-away is often the simplest option. Once the initial arduous journey is complete, there’ll be two full weeks of relaxation, adventure, activity, or anything else the family could want. But in choosing this easy option, are families really missing out on a fantastic opportunity to visit several of the world’s most amazing sights all at one time?
Multicenter vacations have long been common place for single travelers and couples: vacationers spend just a few nights in one destination before moving on to somewhere else. This could mean visiting anywhere from two to fourteen different locations within a standard two week vacation. For parents, the on-the-road nature of this type of vacation may seem like a bit of a nightmare, but there is a way that families can make multicenter vacations a piece of cake: cruise vacation packages. The little ones will be entertained, while mom and dad get to make the most of moving around.
While modern cruise ships have a wealth of child-focused amenities onboard, including kid’s clubs, video game centers, and even cartoon mascots, a 100-night, round-the-world trip probably isn’t the most suitable of itineraries for families. A better option would be cruises that spend more time in port than at sea. Not only will this stave off children’s boredom, it also allows for more destinations to be explored within the allotted time.
The beauty of this method of travel is that it’s comparable to riding in a chauffeur-driven car. Passengers can travel from point A to point B without lifting a finger, without worrying about traffic, and without worrying about the often difficult task of keeping children entertained in the back of a car or on an airplane. Someone else does the hard part, whilst mom and dad both have an opportunity to spend precious time with each other. Whatever a family’s preferences, and wherever they want to go, there are cruise-based multicenter vacations to suit everyone.
Instead of spending a full two weeks in Barcelona, Spain, why not hop on a cruise ship at the Port de Barcelona and travel to France, Italy, Sicily, Greece, and Turkey, taking in both western and eastern Mediterranean charm – cosmopolitan beaches, continental cafés, ancient ruins and blended European and Asian culture? Instead of two weeks in Disney World, why not travel down to Fort Lauderdale or Miami and spend some time exploring the Caribbean islands, where colonial influences make each island different from the one before?
Multicenter vacations are available all around the world for whatever however long or short a break you may want. Moms and dads who perhaps want to travel and take in as much culture as they can – and not just play it easy when it comes to a family vacation – may find local cruise itineraries ideal. It’s a stress-free way of getting what everyone wants. Kids will adore being onboard ships so large they might as well be floating cities.
I would love to cruise the Mediterranean, but I’m definitely scared to do so with my kiddo! Just the thought… he’d need to be watched by family. Now that’s scary to take him into those small bedrooms!
i have not heard of this before. thanks for the great information.
I think this is a great option for parents with children, just as long as the parents are okay with leaving the child in the hands of on board day care services and/or the parents don’t mind traveling en route to these various locations with the child(ren). It is true that it probably is a great idea for those that really want to travel to see history or education because it definitely lets the travelers see different cultural and historical locations (like countries or island principalities). I myself took a tour in which I got to travel for a few weeks but stop in several countries in Europe, staying at a minimum one day in each country/city. It was enjoyable and fulfilled my wish to see many amazing places.
