I’m jumping up and down, I can’t believe that I had this opportunity but I’m really a published author now. You may laugh at me and say, uh, you write every day on-line, but no I helped collaborate on an e-book and it’s fabulous if you ask me. Thanks to the Motherhood, me and 14 other bloggers shared how we get our kids outside and have fun as a family. We all worked together with the National Wildlife Federation’s Be Out There movement and it’s titled Be Out There: Cool Outdoor Ideas for Hot Summer Days.
We all face challenges when it comes to getting our kids outside, it’s either too hot or too cold or rainy or windy or we’re all just too tired. But I believe it’s important to explore the outdoors and it’s important to spend time as a family so this book is full of great ideas on how to get outside as a family.
The e-Book, which is free and now viewable online, features crowd-sourced tips from the mom bloggers and their online communities on:
Balancing Screen Time with Green Time
Cool Activities for Hot Summer Days
Outdoor Time in Everyday Life
Celebrating Special Occasions in the Great Outdoors
The Motherhood and NWF conducted a survey of social media moms in June 2012 and found that 94% of moms think kids are not spending enough time outdoors and one-third of moms feel guilty that their kids aren’t spending more time outside. Don’t let weather, or technology or safety keep you from enjoying time outdoors as a family and find ways to inspire your children to want to spend time outside. Make a family tradition that your kids will want to share with their kids.
I’m super excited to be part of this project and one of the authors.
