Ice Age – Continental Drift : OPENS THIS FRIDAY! July 13
Can you believe that the FOURTH Ice Age is about to hit theatres? So crazy that this franchise that started out as the story of family between a mammoth, a sloth, a sabre tooth tiger and a little baby has turned into an international phenomenon. What is the secret to the success? Family.
It seems like family is one of those themes that knows no boundaries. It doesn’t matter the religion, race, socioeconomic status, location… the desire to be loved and included as a family is always there. Our friends at Ice Age even show us that a biological family isn’t necessarily what does it. This, along with the trials and challenges that families face, and the ability to chuckle through some of the hard times, is what I think makes the stories from Ice Age hit home for so many around the globe.
When we first fell in love with our unlikely family at the dawning of the Ice Age there was one mammoth at the head of the family named Manny (voiced by Ray Romano), Diego the tough but tender-hearted sabre tooth tiger (Denis Leary), and Sid – the sloth that brings out the inner child in all of us (John Leguizamo). Since then, the family has grown and in Ice Age-Continental Drift, Manny is facing life with his loving wife (Queen Latifah)… and daughter who is becoming a full force teenager.
The fourth installment of Ice Age finally brings a love interest for Diego… and she’s played by Jennifer Lopez! We also get to meet Sid’s family… which explains to everyone why Sid is the way he is.
I almost forgot to mention Scrat! No Ice Age movie would be complete without the scappy little rat-like squirrel who’s obsession with an acorn keeps us all laughing out loud and pulling for him all at once. Did you know that one little push, from one little Scrat, onto one little nut could actually split the continents and start the drift? That’s what the story is in Ice Age-Continental Drift! SO funny that poor Scrat is not just still chasing his nut, but sending the world into chaos at the same time. Here’s a little sneak peek at Scrat in action.
I can’t wait to see Ice Age – Continental Drift. The good news is, I don’t have to wait long… AT ALL! It hits theatres Friday July 13. Are you planning to see it???
