You know we’re already working with Iams right? Summer picked out a charity and arranged for Iams to give us 1000 meals. And we’re at about 300 something comments. So we have a long way to go. Take a minute and help us reach 1000 comments. Now if that wasn’t enough charity for you then that’s great. Iams has even more giving up their sleeve.

I remember hearing about this program last year. Continuing its relentless dedication to ending animal homelessness, Iams Home 4 the Holidays, one of the world’s largest pet adoption programs, is kicking off its annual adoption drive with the goal of finding homes for 1.5 million orphaned pets! Orphaned pets are some of the sweetest dogs in the world. I know from experience. Now in its 13th year, the program, which runs from October 1, 2011 through January 3, 2012, has already helped 5.8 million pets find loving families across the globe. And we can help even more!

Understanding that not everyone is in the position to adopt, Iams is also helping homeless pets by donating bowls of food to animal organizations in need. New this year on Facebook.com/Iams are easy ways to get involved and make a difference in the lives of orphaned pets, such as customizing adoption announcement cards that, when shared, will see Iams donating a meal to participating animal organizations through its Bags 4 Bowls program.

Also, For every person that enters this giveaway, Iams will donate 10 bowls of food to an animal organization in need.

  1. I have a big goofy lab, but if I won this it would be for an animal rescue group that I was just introduced to that has both cats and dogs. My neighbor’s cat recently passed away at the age of 21 (he used all of his 9 lives and then some) and I sponsored one of the older kitties at the shelter in our neighbor’s cat’s name so I would love to bring this to him.

  9. Of our seven dogs, four are rescue dogs. Plus, we are fostering another dog who is in need of a forever home. We just have too many to keep him. He was a stray that the shelter wanted to put down due to his age.

  21. I like what Iams does- heck I like any company who gives back, but those helping have a soft spot in my heart.
    I have a small out of pocket cat TNR (trap/neuter/release) and also find homes for Momma cats who slip through and have a litter. Its 365 days a year, but I love it, and love all of them who have left pawprints on my heart.
    I do have 2 ‘on purpose’ rescues- our dog Odin and one of the cats who couldnt get in a home and almost ran out of time.
    Either basket would work 🙂

  46. i love that iams is giving to animals !! i cringe everytime i see the animal shelter commercial asking for donations, they show the skinniest pets , brings me to tears that people treat thier pets that way, or i guess i should say where they DONT treat thier pets.i cant remember a time where we didnt own a pet, right now i have 4big cats that i call my boys, and one 4 1/2 pound Chihuahua,who is definately a moms girl, she wont come out of her bedtime kennel til she sees i am up, no matter that son or bf could of been up for over a hour! so i thank iams for thier great work!

  227. I can’t watch the Animal Cops shows, they make me sad and angry. How could anyone treat animals like that?

  464. I love that they are continuing this program, having 5 adult dogs, and 4 puppies needing new homes, it’s obvious that I love dogs, and animals in general. Having adopted through shelters, and organizations before, I must say that I’ve had some amazing pets over the years.

  517. WTG Iams!. Our local Humane Society does a great job of caring and finding homes for pets that don’t have a home. We have had 3 cases of Pet HOarders in our community and the Society has taken in all of the puppies and cats , provided medical care and prepared the pets for adoption. This has caused a strain on their finances. They publish a wish list for things that they need and these items can be dropped off at the facility. TY for the giveaway and providing a spot to spout on.

  533. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats. All but one cat have are rescues.

    Cinnamon is a Sheltie/Beagle mix – rescued from a kill shelter.
    Sugar us a Rat Terrier Mix – rescued off streets when she walked up to my husband in the grocery parking lot on a hot summers day. She was covered with ticks and fleas. She was hot, tired and hungry. After a bath to de-tick and de-Flea she ate then took a very long nap.

    The cats names are Trey, DJ, CeCe,PoohBear and prissy

    All rescued except for PoohBear he is treys son. A oops before we could get her fixed.

  572. All of our current pets are rescues. The cat currently sitting in my lap was found wandering alone as a youngster, declawed!, by my mom. The dog hogging the bed with my husband for Sunday football was also found homeless, shivering and cold under a porch during a huge storm. Both have been with us over 10 years.
