Hotel Transylvania is pulling into a theater near you July 13th. Yes that’s a monster summer vacation movie on Friday the 13th of July. We received hotel and transportation to LA to attend the Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation Press Junket which included the movie screening, an Amazon Echo presentation and a cocktail party. We loved the movie and here’s why!!!
So, Drac is back and he needs a vacation. His daughter Mavis arranges everything to help him relax and have some family time.
Hotel Transylvania 3 Summary
Mavis surprises Dracula with a family voyage on a luxury Monster Cruise Ship so he can take a vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. The rest of Drac’s Pack cannot resist going along. But once they leave port, romance arises when Dracula meets the mysterious ship Captain, Ericka. Now it’s Mavis’ turn to play the overprotective parent, keeping her dad and Ericka apart. Little do they know that his “too good to be true” love interest is actually a descendant of Abraham Van Helsing, ancient nemesis to Dracula and all other monsters.
Hotel Transylvania 3 is the third installment to this funny franchise. My family has LOVED all the Hotel Transylvania movies so far. The combination of the actors, the script, and the craziness is just the perfect formula for summer family fun. And this movie, even though it’s the third movie can be seen without watching the first two.
Hotel Transylvania 3 stars Adam Sandler as Drac, Selena Gomez as Mavis, Kevin James as Frank, David Spade as Griffin, Keegan-Michael Key as Murray, Steve Buscemi as Wayne Jim Gaffigan as Abraham Van Helsing and Kathryn Hahn as Ericka. Erika is the new love interest to Drac as he finds out that you can Zing more than once. This of course is quite difficult for Mavis to handle and becomes a complication in the story. The biggest complication though is when you find out who Ericka is.
As far as is Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation appropriate for kids, yes it is. Is it funny, yes I laughed a lot and picture my son filling the theater with his boisterous laughter. Is this movie scary? No, I didn’t find this movie scary at all. With the colorful animation there might be a scene that is suspenseful but it’s lightened with the music. Which reminds me. I have to mention this movie is driven with THE PERFECT notes of music. The final scenes are the best of the music, but even up until that moment, I really thought the background music really pushed the movie through in just the right ways.
I hope you will consider taking your family to see Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation next weekend when it opens.
