The kids and I went all the way to Miami to watch Hotel Transylvania 2. And they loved the movie….It was the return of Mavis, Dracula and Jonathan and the whole gang. Mavis and Jonathan have a kid named Dennis and everyone to know if he is a late fanger or if he’s “normal”. But that’s the whole point of the movie…what is “normal”. The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 2! Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania… Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire. (But he’s like the BEST grandfather ever). So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp. This is when all the crazy things start happening. And to add to that little do they know that Drac’s grumpy and very old, old, old school dad Vlad is about to pay a family visit to the hotel. And when Vlad finds out that his great-grandson is not a pure blood – and humans are now welcome at Hotel Transylvania – things are going to get batty!
None of the kids got up to go to the bathroom and you should have seen the size of the drinks they gave us before the movie even started. WOW. There were a lot of jokes in the movie some were directed at the children and some were directed at the adults. I appreciated that not all of the jokes were adult like and that some of them were just slapstick funny. Hotel Transylvania 2 did a very good job making the kids laugh, keeping them entertained and spreading such a good message of being “normal” and that’s not it’s all cracked up to be. To a vampire it’s normal to have a vampire child, to a human it’s normal to be “boring” maybe? It was really nice how it was done in the movie. I think in the end it didn’t matter if he got his teeth or not. I thought it was a cute family film. The kids thought it was amazing.
