I’ve become a lover of all things wine. I really really like to drink wine. It’s not the best for my diet, but it is a nice way to end the evening with my husband and usually goes very well with dinner. I honestly can’t remember if we received this bottle of Hidden Cellars Mendocino Country Petite Sirah or if we bought it in Lynwood at the new wine store. But I really did like drinking it. The only reason we didn’t finish it is because gnats actually really like wine too and a gnat got in the bottom of my bottle and I just couldn’t finish it.
It was a very odd Summer/Fall this year, the gnats were really a pest inside and outside. We couldn’t figure out why we had them, but when we found out our neighbors had them too we felt much much better.
Hidden Cellars Mendocino Country Petite Sirah pairs well with pasta dishes and red sauces, it was a great taste but nothing like out of this world. Dark ruby in color with aromas of cherry, blackberry, mint, and chocolate, this big red’s got spicy, dark fruit flavors and supple tannins.
Winemaker Dennis Patton has slowly remade Hidden Cellars. White wines were originally the specialty, but in recent years the winery has concentrated on hearty reds like zinfandel and petite sirah, all made largely from old vines.
