I love this time of year and one of our favorite activities is looking at all the parade floats for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. One year we all had the opportunity to preview the floats and try on some of the costumes. I love the creativity that goes into the entire parade. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and it is the Aflac Duck’s sixth year as a part of the festivities.
The Aflac balloonicle features the Duck skating into town, complete with a blue hat and scarf. A balloonicle is a combination balloon and self-propelled vehicle, so there are no strings tying the duck down. The Aflac balloonicle is one of only three balloonicles in this year’s parade.
Aflac has passionately supported the fight against childhood cancer for more than 20 years and this year we can help through its #Duckprints campaign. Aflac has created an online game, “Build Your Own Ballonicle,” where we can create our own Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloonicle, featuring the beloved Aflac Duck. Every game experience shared on social media with #Duckprints will generate a $2 donation toward children’s cancer (up to $1.5 million). You can also get involved in the fight against childhood cancer any time of year by simply taking to social media and using the hashtag #Duckprints. For any Duckprints-related social media activity, Aflac will donate $2 to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, in support of childhood cancer treatment and research (up to $1.5 million).

In addition to being a partner of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, this is the 16th year that Aflac and Macy’s have teamed up to offer a festive holiday plush of the Aflac Duck, with 250 Macy’s stores participating across the country. The net proceeds from each plush Holiday Duck sold are donated to the participating children’s cancer facility nearest to where it is purchased. To date, Aflac has raised over $3 million through the Holiday Duck program.
This year, Aflac introduced Duckchat, an Aflac app where you can get custom Aflac Duck emojis and GIFs. The app can be downloaded on either the Apple iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store. Aflac will also donate $2 (up to $1.5 million) with each download of Duckchat.
So there are many ways to help raise money for childhood cancer.
