The fun of a young romance is enchanting. I’ll tell you a cute little story about my husband and I. We met in college, so it’s not as cute as the movie you see described below, but it was still fun for us. The story goes..
When I was in college I worked none-stop paying for college as I went. One of my many jobs was as campus tech support. I was in training for one particular building. I went into that building on an assignment and I couldn’t figure out how to get the machine on and yes that made me feel really dumb. Andrew walked by, or I found him in another room, I can’t really remember that detail very well, but he helped me turn on the computer and left. I remember thinking about that a lot and that he probably thought I wasn’t going to last long. It turns out, I made no impression on him at all.
I worked with him in different ways every Friday for an entire semester.
One Friday, he brought in a really cool Star Wars movie set that he purchased and was showing it off to everyone. I had to ask him if I could look at it too. It was like I wasn’t even there for him.
As I said, this went on for an entire semester.
I no longer worked there…
We went on a Computer Trip with a bunch of other people
And something Flipped!
Suddenly, we both really saw each other and he finally noticed me.
Flipped is a bit different because it’s more about young love. Two kids coming of age and one of them took longer to notice the other. It’s a cute movie and I recommend it.
“Flipped” is directed by Rob Reiner from a screenplay by Rob Reiner & Andrew Scheinman, and is based on the novel by Wendelin Van Draanen. It’s a wonderful coming of age story about the lessons of friendship and family – about first love, identity, communication, standing up for a cause and acceptance of others. These are themes important to tweens and kids, and, of course, their mothers.
When second-graders Bryce and Juli first meet, Juli knows it’s love. But Bryce isn’t so sure. Girl-phobic and easily embarrassed, young Bryce does everything he can to keep his outspoken wannabe girlfriend at arm’s length… for the next six years, which isn’t easy since they go to the same school and live across the street from each other. But if Juli finally looks away, will it be Bryce’s turn to be dazzled? “Flipped” takes Bryce and Juli from Grade School to Junior High, through triumph and disaster, family drama and first love, as they make the discoveries that will define who they are – and who they are to each other.
I received the movie listed above for review on this post.
