Hanes Green for Arbor Day Foundation Giveaway

April 12, 2010 by Momstart 174 Comments

Hanes is such a well known household name. But Hanes is much more than socks, underwear and undershirts. Hanes is a company that takes community, charity and the environment seriously. Hanes has partnered with The Arbor Day Foundation to encourage the planting of trees. For every qualifying purchase of three Hanes products with mail-in redemption and proof of purchase from April 1 through May 15, Hanes will send out a free Hanes Earth Day T-shirt and will donate a dollar to The Arbor Day Foundation. Hanes is sending me a t-shirt for this post and will send on to the winner of the giveaway at the bottom of the post.

Hanes and Arbor Day LogoFor every qualifying redemption of Hanes product purchases, the Arbor Day Foundation, which works to replant trees in America’s national forests that have been damaged by fire, insect or disease, will plant a tree on behalf of Hanes and its consumers, up to 20,000 trees.

Also, for every virtual tree you send, up to 3 per facebook user,  the Arbor Day Foundation will plant a real tree, up to 50,000, on Hanes behalf. Become a fan of Hanes on Facebook and go send a virtual tree.

Hanes has also introduced a new consumer Web site Hanes Green (www.hanesgreen.com) There you can learn more about the brand’s environmental responsibility effort and watch the "For Future Generations" ad.  The Hanes green Web site will also offer information and ideas for how you can take small steps toward making more responsible environmental decisions.

The commercial is pretty cute; with kids giving Pete dirty looks from all over the mall because he isn’t eco-friendly. I know it’s important for us to start thinking about our carbon footprint and how much we consume and Hanes is ready to help us by providing eco smart clothing lines with products made from recycled materials.

Enter to Win:

Here is a great way to spend the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. Plant a tree wearing your very own Hanes Earth Day t-shirt. (t-shirt in your size is the prize)

I have been recycling for years. I hang my clothes out to dry year-round. I use biodegradable dish soap. I walk or ride my bike whenever possible. I try to remember to take my reusable canvass bags to the store. I watch t.v. with the lights out unless I’m also reading or sewing. I take my old appliances and scrap metal to the special recycling event once a year. I save my marigold, morning glory, tomato, squash, and cantalope seeds to plant the next year.
