By Summer our in-house green expert!
At your next party, don’t keep up with the Jones’, be ahead of them! Start your next get together on the right foot … or the left foot … either way, make it your green foot and leave less of a carbon footprint by adding to your guest list Hefty® BasicsTM .
Hefty®,Hefty®, Hefty®! You maybe jingling their name for their commercials which I typically see for their garbage bags, but the company is more than just garbage bags. In their product line-up Hefty® now offers paper plates which they refer to as Basics. The name says it all! The plates are thick, unbleached paper with no coating or inks making them biodegradable in your at home compost or through your waste management (where service is provided, check with your company).
Not only does Hefty® have a great product, but I think they have some bonus pros to their BasicsTM lines and they all involve you taking an active step:
* Hefty is partnering with the Arbor Day FoundationTM. For every 10 new “Like”s on the Hefty Basics Facebook page Hefty® BasicsTM will plant a tree. Their goal is 10,000!
* Hefty is partnering with Box Tops for EducationTM. On the back of each package you’ll find the official coupon to print and submit to a participating school of your choice. Even if you don’t have children in school you can still help by collecting the coupons (which you will find on General Mills® products) and turn them into your local school’s office.
* Unlike other aforementioned biodegradable and compostable flatware companies, you can simply run to your local store and pick up Hefty® BasicsTM.
Hefty® BasicsTM come in two sizes. They offer lunch plates – 45, 8-5/8 inch plates – and dinner plates – 24, 10-1/4 inch plates. I hope Hefty® BasicsTM will expand into bowls, cups and silverware too as the BasicsTM are microwavable and thick enough to stand up to whatever food I’m serving and whomever I’m serving as a mom of two. For easy, reliable eating and clean-up needs keep Hefty® BasicsTM in your pantry.
Summer received samples mentioned above to use in this review.
I haven’t heard of these before. I’ll have to check them out next time I’m at the store.
I saw these in Target the other day and was curious about them, just wish they had a different color to them.
I had not heard of these before, but I am going to keep my eye out for them the next time I am shopping for plates.
We got to try these too – and I was really impressed by them – held up to Tortellini with a lot of marinara sauce and no leaks!
I am suppose to get these too, can’t wait to try them out now that I read your review!
