The big game is this weekend, and I live in ground zero for football right now: the California Bay Area. I don’t know a touchdown from a hole in the ground, but I am getting in the spirit through something we can all appreciate: snacks.
Wanting to get into the sporting spirit, I decided to host game day snacks for my office – a “Snacker Bowl”, if you will. Competing for top snack prize were an assortment of Calbee snacks.
Some background: Calbee is a Japanese company that makes an assortment of delicious, savory snacks: shrimp chips (shrimp-y wheat crisps), saya chips (wasabi pea-flavored chips), potato chips, and Jagabee potato sticks.
My team dove right into the shrimp chips, a snack I remembered fondly from my time living in Korea. Fierce debate emerged over whether the wasabi or hot garlic flavor was better. All agreed that you could barely taste the shrimp.
The saya chips were devoured by another team within an hour of making their debut. I brought the potato chips and potato sticks (which taste like baked french fries) to a party, where they were very much appreciated.
So, who won the Snacker Bowl? Our tastebuds.
I recommend getting Calbee Snacks for your upcoming Lunar New Year or Super Bowl celebrations. You can buy them at stores near you.
