Frozen JELLO Pops Recipe – A Colorful Way to Cool Off
There is nothing better than a cold, refreshing snack during the summertime. Now, I am usually an ice cream girl, but this homemade treat caters to all. As I’m babysitting this summer, I knew that I needed to find a cheap, kid-friendly, and delicious treat to have for the kiddos. These JELLO Pops are it.
Now, the funny thing is, I don’t like JELLO… so, I’ve never made JELLO before in my life. That’s right, 21 years old and I’ve never made JELLO. What should have been a very easy recipe to follow, ended up with a pink stove and a strawberry smelling kitchen. But rest assured, if I can make these having never made JELLO before (and I say that even after my incident), this JELLO pops recipe is a piece of cake…or well, JELLO.
The first thing you’re going to need are the flavors of JELLO that you’d like to enjoy frozen. Even with my kitchen catastrophe, I still believe this was the hardest part. I decided to go with strawberry, berry blue, and orange…that way I had some variety. J
JELLO Pops Recipe
1 Box of JELLO (That’s all you absolutely NEED. Once again, I made 3 different flavors for variety.)
1 Pack of Dixie Cups (I used the cheaper party paper cups, but they were a little too big and the wax on the Dixie cups would help with the opening process.)
1 Pack of Popsicle Sticks
1 Cup Boiling Water
1 Cup Cold Water
1. Bring one cup of water to a boil.
2. Add in the gelatin mix and stir until it’s dissolved.
3. Stir in one cup of cool water.
4. Pour the finished mixture into the popsicle molds or paper cups (which I used) and put them in the freezer. After about an hour, place the popsicle sticks in the cups and cover with aluminum foil.
One important tip I might add is to let the JELLO cool for about 10 minutes in the refrigerator before you pour it into the molds if you want to mix your flavors together for a tie dye effect.
This was a great recipe to cool us all down in this hot summer weather… and the kids definitely enjoyed it. I hope you’ll try it out and share some of your favorite flavor combinations!
