I’ve partnered with Testingmom.com. They gave me a three month trial period to use their website and test out their game Fun IQ Pack. You can read our review of the game. Now we want to talk much more in depth about testingmom.com and why it would be good for you to try out. We narrowed it down to five reasons.
1. To Raise Your Child’s IQ
IQ is used to measure intelligence. I’m not sure how widely it is used currently but it’s still fun to test and I’m sure it helps with reasoning abilities. An IQ test helps identify students that are bright and might get bored in school. This gives teachers the ability to recognize that these students need more enrichment and challenges to keep them learning in the classroom. And vice versa, it also identifies students that might need extra help. Either way with testingmom.com you can identify where you child falls and help them improve.
2. To Get Into a Private School
Getting into a certain school can be really competitive. When Zoe was in first grade there was a placement test to get into the advanced program. We let her take the test to see if she could be in the advanced class but it was so competitive she missed getting in by a few points. We know parents whose children did get in and they had their kids doing practice worksheets every single day to prepare for the test. So if you are looking to get your child into a particular program testingmom.com could be the place to start. After all, if you take a look at a few of their 100 free questions, it’s easy to see how even the most educated adults can miss questions they can’t see coming…
3. To Learn Basic Logic
Sometimes it seems that learning how to solve a problem is more important that actually knowing the answer. And teaching logic comes in so many different forms. One of those forms is pattern recognition and spatial awareness. Testingmom.com has games and programs that help both of those.
4. As a tutoring program
When you become a TestingMom.com member, you get access to the tools, resources, practice sessions, and complete, done-for-you curriculum you need to guarantee your child isn’t left behind. Children all have different learning styles and having such a large variety at your fingertips is amazing. What I love about testingmom.com is that I’ve seen some of the programs that they can give you access to. We have some of them through our private home school program. The others are just as equally amazing and attractive to kids. Plus it teaches kids who might be stressed about taking tests how to take the test. Practice can be calming in the right atmosphere.
5. School Placement Testing
Your child takes an important test and is categorized by percentile. At the top? You’re in the best place to succeed. At the bottom? Administrators and teachers think there’s work to do. You can find out where you child will place before hand and work on those areas with fun games. There are practice questions and there are games for every test. Plus there are just tons of games. You can sit with your child and watch them play games that are teaching them how to answer these test. Looking at the website can be confusing and overwhelming at first but you will see that you have so many things to choose from and each thing is organized in certain ways. For example, when you choose your test, then the games that will help that test are listed there. There are also lessons for parents in case you need a little brushing up yourself.
Of course there are even more extras to enjoy. We have been enjoying the chess games and the encyclopedia that provides so much enrichment to the kids. And they have a LOT of resources for parents. There are so many video tutorials and help on parenting and just all kinds of tips in how to best help your kids in school. One of the most important is being a hands on parent and just getting involved and getting a membership to testingmom.com is a great way to start.
