We’ve been here almost four months and we finally have a booking. Auditions were really none existent in January. We had maybe a total of two in February and now in March they started to pick up. I recently found out that even to get an audition you are pretty lucky because the competition here is so stiff. 3000 kids are submitted for just one role. Depending on the role and the casting director it’s narrowed down to 300 for an audition. Then 30 for a call back and 5 for a second call back. Miles was one of the top five for a Hot Wheels commercial but we’re pretty sure he didn’t get it because we haven’t heard anything yet.
He had a call back once for a Disney TV show too a while back if you follow my Facebook you’ll know that he was close to getting on Austin & Ally. GO MILES right?
Then for some other shows, the casting director will only pull in 8 kids for the audition because he only picks kids that he knows. That’s how this business works, it’s all about connections. We have to take classes with the casting directors but they are EXPENSIVE!!! We are currently looking for a cheap way to keep our acting classes up because we’ve decided to stay a little longer.
If they could book something long term or a really good commercial then we might make enough to take those classes. But the thing about that is the Andrew and I really don’t want to spend their money at all. We want them to have it when they go to college. This is their college fund money. Andrew and I will both continue to work as much as possible to make this dream come true for them.
Sometimes I worry about what people think about us doing this, I mean it’s not about trying it’s about getting the job to some people. I just have to put that aside and realize we are doing well if that many people are competing against each other and hey we got a booking. We actually got two but I can’t tell you what the second one is.
Keep wishing us luck!
