I always switch up my recipe, and today I made a minty fresh scrub that is perfect for keeping your skin smooth as cold weather starts to creep in!
Easy Peppermint Sugar Scrub
1oz Ziggy Marley Coco’Mon Coconut Oil
1/4 C Sugar
1/4 C Real Brand Orsa Salt
1/2 tsp. Nielsen-Massey Pure Peppermint Extract
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and microwave in 30-second increments, stopping to stir every 15 seconds or so. Continue microwaving until the coconut oil melts – the time will vary depending on your microwave, but mine took about 60 seconds total. Stir thoroughly and spoon into a jar or other container with a closed lid.
To use: Pull out a small amount from the jar and spread it over rough skin on legs, elbows, etc. Rinse off. This scrub is NOT meant for your face or sensitive areas. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to do a test patch first. You can also reduce the amount of peppermint extract or omit it completely; the peppermint adds a hint of scent and a refreshing, tingling clean feeling to the skin, but it’s not necessary for the scrub to work.
Coconut oil can make your shower a tad slick, so be aware of that any time you use it so that you don’t slip. I love coconut oil as a base for scrubs and as a hair treatment – it’s all-purpose!
