Now that so much of our lives are managed through computers, losing your files can be catastrophic. We’ve all been there: You forget to make a backup of something important, your hard drive crashes and you lose all your photos, your child accidentally deletes your work presentation – there is so much that can go wrong. I think most of us are aware that there are ways to recover deleted files, but have no idea how to go about it. So when EaseUS® reached out to me about their free data recovery software, EaseUS® Data Recovery Wizard®, I was eager to test it out!
Simple to Use, EaseUS Lives up to its Name
I’ve never attempted to recover data myself before, so I wanted to put it to the test as a layperson with no particular experience. It was extremely straightforward: Upon opening the Data Recovery Wizard, I was greeted by a landing screen which showed all available drives. I clicked on a flash drive that I wanted to test, and was shown a full list of both the current files on the drive, as well as some deleted images that I had removed a year ago after transferring them to my computer, since they were no longer needed on that particular drive. All I had to do was select the files I wanted to restore, and then click the “Recover” button. In minutes, all of the images I had deleted a year ago were brought back!
Effortless to Use, But Professional Results
So we know that EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard can be used successfully by anyone – but how good are the results? To put this to a true test, I had my husband test out this software. Jai is a computer technician, and he has been hired to recover data for numerous clients over the years. So I asked him for his professional opinion!
When I told Jai I was working on a project for EaseUS, the first thing he said was that this company makes great software – the company has been around since 2004, so he was already familiar with them. He was able to give the Data Recovery Wizard a real test by using the software on a laptop whose hard drive is physically failing, to the point where the operating system won’t even give it a drive letter because it is unreadable. The Data Recovery Wizard was able to recognize and scan the failing drive, showing a huge list of old files.
The software recovered huge amounts of pictures and other files that were completely unreadable! The software can’t read them well enough to know what their original names used to be due to the physical corruption, but this is standard with this type of data recovery – I know, because I have some old recovered files that Jai restored years ago that have funky filenames! There were some bad sectors on the drive, so not every single item was recoverable, but remember that this was pulling information from a physically failing disc, so there is a real limit to what could be recovered in such a scenario, no matter what kind of program you’re using.
Jai said that the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is right up there with the best of any other professional data recovery software that he has used, but it’s by far the easiest program to use – meaning that anyone could use this without professional experience.
