As we prepare for the back-to-school season, MomStart is partnering with Jingit to bring you this handy savings guide! I know, I can’t believe it’s that time already. Where did summer go? This is the question my friends and I have been asking each other all week. As thoughts turn from summer sunshine and vacations to the hustle and bustle of school days, parents know they have to embark on that dreaded back-to-school shopping list. School supplies don’t come cheap anymore, so before you empty your wallet at the store, make sure you download Jingit to your phone. What exactly is Jingit, you ask? Jingit is a savings portal with opportunities to earn cash back with participating brands in-store, online, and even while you’re on the go, thanks to their free app for iPhone and Android. This app allows you to earn money back on purchases made at retailers like Target, Walmart, Fred Meyer, and Safeway – and given that my nickname is “Super Coupon Girl”, I naturally had to check this out!
Using Jingit is as Easy as 1, 2, 3, 4:
What made this app stand out to me was its unique take on the “Cash back” concept. When you open the app, it shows you a list of current offers on everything from school supplies to food to household items, which you can add to your virtual shopping list on Jingit as an easy way to keep track. But rather than clipping a coupon or adding an offer to a rewards card, Jingit works after the fact: Once you’re done shopping, you scan your receipt with your phone, which is then processed and cash added to your account. It takes the idea of a traditional rebate and speeds it up to the point where you can do it on smaller, daily transactions – I think it’s a clever use of technology to simplify the rebate process! To use your cash back, simply access your Jingit Wallet and cash it out for eGift Cards that you can use straight from your phone.
However, I think my favorite feature of the app has to be check-ins. I’ve long been a fan of apps like Foursquare, where I can build a little map when I’m on the move of places that I visit. Well, Jingit takes this one step further by actually rewarding you with cash offers when you “Check in” by scanning products at select retailers! That alone is enough incentive to get me reaching for my phone the next time I pop to the store. If you’re running around the stores this week scrambling for those back-to-school supplies, I’d advise you to check out Jingit – not only will you have multiple places to potentially check in, but you’ll also be able to make use of Jingit’s special “Back to School” offers, which range from cash back on Elmer’s X-TREME School Glue to money back when you purchase scissors. You have to buy this stuff anyway, so why not get rewarded for doing so? And if you don’t have a smartphone, you can still find ways to earn by visiting the site on your desktop computer.
