On Saturday right before Easter we get together with the WHOLE family. 2nd and 3rd cousins and just have a potluck dinner and it’s so much fun! But we have to drive 3 hours round trip to get there. I’m so glad It’s only once a year!!
Then on Easter morning we just do a small basket, but Avery’s only 2 1/2 so it works out!

Our Easter traditions are pretty typical: Easter baskets outside of the bedrooms, an egg hunt inside or outside depending on the weather, church as a family, and a big Easter lunch.

We do the usual dying eggs, easter egg hunt but one different tradition we do is Saturday evening we plant jelly beans and when we awake Sunday morning, we go out to find that the Easter Bunny came and that lollipops have grown in our jelly bean patch! Kids always luv this! Sunday is definitely great with church…all the kids in new Easter attire, a family photo and then a great dinner!

I always watched The Sound of Music or The Ten Commandments on tv when I was young. I wasn’t allowed to stay up late so I always thought the end of the Sound of Music was the wedding scene. They don’t seem to be on tv on Easter as often anymore so I have to be content with enjoying them on dvd. Of course we also hunt eggs and eat ham. And lots of chocolate.

When the kids wake up they see their homeade baskets and they know that they are from us. We don’t want them to get caught up in the “easter bunny” and forget about the real meaning of Easter. Then we go to Sunrise Service at church and have breakfast there. After church we go to my mom and dad’s where all of the grandkids have their easter egg hunt. This year, we are going to dye some eggs and put Cars stickers on them! :o)

When the children woke up there was always an Easter basket next to their bed and the eggs were hidden outside. They couldn’t have any of the candy until they found the eggs and ate one(they were kept in the fridge until right before they were hidden). We, also, always had a big Easter dinner.

We celebrate Easter at home with an easter egg hunt…the easter eggs have clues to where the “big ticket” item is (wrapped gift– usually a DVD/CD). I always make the basket which has only a few bits of candy, the remainder of the candy is in the eggs …the fun is in the hunt (and the “big ticket” item). We also have an Easter dinner get-together that includes my family, my brother & SIL, my parents & my IL’s and we rotate which house it’s held at.

Our traditions start out with all the kids dying Easter Eggs, and having an Easter egg hunt with my Nephews and Nieces the Sat before Easter. Than Me making the Easter baskets the night before and hiding them in the house. The kids hunting for them in the Am when they wake up taking pictures when they find them, Getting the kids dressed up, taking pictures in the easter outfits, and going to church. Having a family get together at Grandmas for a Traditional Ham dinner.

Our Easter traditions are dying eggs with the kiddos the night before. (Kids are allowed to get up whenever they want to find them.) Just let us know for pictures before they start.
Off to church with bouncing off the wall kids.
Ham is in the crockpot for lunch when we get home.

Our tradition every Easter is to color eggs the night before. We also cook and bake food the night before and get together with the family and eat. We have Easter baskets and sometimes do Easter egg hunts. Having an Easter egg basket with a minimal amount of candy in it is a perfect idea! Especially if you want to avoid the dentist!

My children wake up every Easter morning with a basket at the foot of their beds…from the Easter bunny. I hide easter eggs inside and out and the children find them after breakfast. We then spend the day together, enjoying one another.

    Thank you. 🙂

We color eggs on Saturday. On Sunday morning, we go to mass, then to brunch with the in-laws. After brunch, we head to my parents’ house for a huge egg hunt (there are 19 grandchildren). Then dinner, usually ham and turkey. This year will be a little different because my daughter will have to get back to college Sunday night for a Monday morning class.

My wife and daughters always boiled and painted eggs the night before Easter, and after church, we’d have ham and Potato Salad. Them we’d hide the eggs for the kids to find. It was great. I’m looking forward to my grandson continuing this tradition.

Easter egg hunts have been a family tradition since I was a little girl. Our family gets together and has a huge meal. early afternoon. Than the kids get to hunt plastic eggs for special treats and prizes. Than we all sit around and relax

We always had the tradition that every year my mom would make an Easter tree by cutting a big lilac branch and putting it in a bucket of water filled with rocks a few weeks before Easter. We would decorate it with little decorations and blown-out eggs. By the time Easter came it was bright green and leafy – very pretty! – – – I want to start doing the same thing!

On Easter, we dress up (the kids are sooo cute) and go to church! Then we come home and let the kids ‘hunt’ for their baskets. We have brunch then do an easter egg hunt! One of my favorite things is being able to have whatever I gave up for lent…usually chocolate! We celebrate that our Savior is risen! Oh how I love Easter!

We used to do the typical celebration of egg coloring, hunt, and Easter dinner when I was a kid. However, I no longer celebrate the holiday in a personal way, but I do give Easter gifts to my God-daughter (whose birthday falls on Easter this year) and God-nephew and wish others a happy Easter.

I get up early and hide colored eggs around the yard. My husband brings out our children to find them while I start getting dinner prepared. Then, they come inside and have to search for their Easter baskets.

We have an easter egg hunt for the kids. We hide plastic eggs filled with candy, small toys, and sometimes one dollar bills. Before the hunt we have each child dye an easter egg. we hide the dyed eggs and each one found is worth five dollars. My mother used to do that for me and my brothers and sisters when we were young.

The night before, the kids put out carrots for the Easter Bunny (which he eats and always leaves a few bits behind). The kids find their baskets – filled with Easter books, sidewalk chalk, a movie, stickers, and yes – candy. We go to church so they can see the reason for the holiday, then we head to a family member’s house. We color eggs, then hide them along with plastic eggs filled with money.

Pretty much the same as millions of others–church, an egg/candy hunt, and sometimes a get-together with family. But Easter is more of a nuclear family thing with us, rather than extended.

Easter-Eve activities in our house include Dying and Decorating Eggs with kids and prepping for Easter Dinner and Desserts. Because we live in the City and really dont have a decent yard Hubby and I make 4 Easter-Baskets (1 for each) and fill eggs with cheap toys, change and goodies and then hide them around the house in creative places and then let the kids go loose. We make it hard for them so it lasts awhile and is entertaining. Tip to parents: If hiding real eggs…write down where you hid them just in case they dont all get found.

    Easter is my favorite holiday.
I am Greek Orthodox, and we have many traditions. Some include roasting a lamb, and also coloring eggs, which are red. When Easter finally is here, there is a tradition of cracking eggs. Friends & family crack their eggs against one another’s to see who ends up with the whole egg. The one holding the last whole egg is deemed the lucky one.

Our kids’ Easter traditions are the same as when I was little. We decorate eggs together the night before, the kids wake up in the morning and are completely excited that the Easter bunny ate one of the eggs or that he made a mess or left some of his hair laying around. We all dress up and go to church. Afterwards, we have a huge easter egg hunt (my mother has 5 kids, 5 inlaws and 11 grandkids), and we have a nice Easter dinner together to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Eh, my plans for Easter are rather simple.
We make eggs the day before, hide them and then eat them. Boiled of course. When I was younger my dad had a friend and we would go to his parents house. A HUGE house. But he died in an accident and they sold their house. I dont remember him much, but I still have the book he gave me for my birthday.

We have a scavenger hunt, the kids get clues that lead them all over the house and yard before they find their baskets. It is great fun and gets them ready for brunch.

Our Easter tradition is usually (for the big kids) they get one nice present. The little ones get candy & lots of little knick knacks. Also for the smaller ones we do an egg hunt with money (its usually alot with coins and a few get bills inside).
Then at night the whole family gets together for dinner! Its a great time to laugh and have fun!

We usually go over to a friends house and celebrate there. It’s actually been a tradition for the past three years. We usually eat bar-b-q, crack eggs and then hang out with the kids (outside) while they play and we chat. It’s really good times!!!

My husband and I would get together with the in-laws to dye and hide Easter eggs for the two nieces, then we would wonder off for a fun filled adult day.

Now that we have one of our there will be even more kiddie Easter festivities at the grandparents!

Our little one loves wrestling and baby boxing her stuffed bunnies. I’m almost afraid of getting her around a real one. 🙂

We dye the eggs and on Easter morning we play a game called “spackle”. Two people pick out an egg and they tap them together. The one whose egg does not crack is the winner.

A four-generation gathering at my wifes parent’s house. Herding all 8 grand-children/great grand-children into the study and a mad rush by the uncles to hide 96 eggs throughout the house. Then release the child in age order to start filling their baskets. Then a cup of coffee or bubbly and enjoy the show.

We haven’t done any of the traditions we use to since my grandma passed away in 2008, but in the last (almost) 2 years we’ve kept up the one thing I love the most, dying the Easter eggs and then finding where the pesky bunny hid them at (okay well where he hid the plastic ones lol)
