Zoe is a very creative little girl and wants to have a new table every month. Since I’m a photographer and in need of a creative background for food photography, I thought it would be fun to let her do a table. For January, it’s her birthday tomorrow I let her pick. She picked a pink table. This is her creation.
Setting the Table began at Target where we found Christmas ornaments in pink and purple at 50% off. See, what I’ve learned about taking pictures and setting up the picture is that you do need items in the background. To get those items you don’t have to spend a lot of money, you can get them at thrift shops and on the seasonal clearance racks.
Four Target Placemats (not on sale because it is the season of love)
A strand of purple beads only $1.00)
A canning jar (that I already had in my pantry filled with pink icicles)
Pink icicles ($1.00)
A strand of lace (already had)
A red vase (I received in the past with flowers in it, I never throw a vase away)
Milk Jugs with cheap plastic straws
A butterfly and flower hairpin (Zoe had these in her collection)
Snow Flakes and Pink wisps (Macy’s Holliday Store after Christmas (70% off))
Star Boxes (from Lush Christmas presents)
The key is to use things you find around the house and cheap items you find. Plus be creative with little pops of color. The butterfly really added a lot.
And the best news is it will be very easy to transform it into a Valentine’s Day Table Setting.
