Your Guide to Restaurants in Cody, Wyoming
If you’re planning a trip through Wyoming to Yellowstone’s east entrance, you’ll find yourself passing through the town of Cody. I highly encourage you to build in a few days to explore Cody itself before moving on to Yellowstone – before my visit, I had no idea that the town had so much to offer in the way of attractions and history. I honestly didn’t think there would be a whole lot to do there, but after 3 days I still hadn’t seen it all – I was impressed enough to want to return in the future, and that’s coming from a Brit who isn’t exactly a cowgirl!
If you saddle up and bring the crew to Cody, you’ll need a few good watering holes to grab some grub. Here is my recommendation for restaurants in Cody:
Cassie’s Supper Club
214 Yellowstone Ave
Cody, WY 82414
Phone: (307) 527-5500
Cassie’s Supper Club is a delicious eatery with quite the storied history. Its founder Cassie originally opened the establishment as a saloon for "Ladies of the night" after becoming a widow; as the years went by and such practices became illegal, it became a standalone restaurant. The decorations are humorous and reference the past of the establishment – I didn’t see anything too suggestive, but bear it in mind if that’s not the atmosphere you’re looking for.
The Supper Club has a full service restaurant and bar, with some of the best food I sampled in Cody. I opted for the "Hangover Burger", a giant hamburger piled high with toppings like fried mushrooms and onions, peppers – everything but the kitchen sink! Some of my dining companions opted for steaks, and seemed to be impressed with both the size and flavor. If I get the chance to return to Cody in the future, Cassie’s will be the first place I go to eat!
Proud Cut Saloon & Steakhouse
1227 Sheridan Ave
Cody, WY 82414
Phone: (307) 527-6905
The Proud Cut Saloon gives a true western ambiance with its rustic decor and "Kick *ss cowboy cuisine". We stopped there for lunch and I was immediately enamored with the Jalapeño Burger with Garlic Fries – two of my current favorite tastes! It seemed a bit large for lunch, but since they weren’t able to do a half order, I went for it anyway. It was more food that I could eat but so very good!
The Geyser Brewing Co.
525 West Yellowstone Cody,
Phone: (307) 587-5868
The Geyser Brewing Co. is conveniently located right next to the Cody Nite Rodeo, so I’d recommend this as the place to go for dinner if you’re planning on watching the rodeo. They have a wonderful selection of home brew beers, so if you like beer I’d definitely try one of their samplers! For my dinner, I ordered an Elk & Buffalo Burger. Yes, I was a little obsessed with burgers on this trip!

1192 Sheridan Ave
Cody, Wyoming 82414
Phone: (307) 587-4221
The Irma Hotel is a fascinating place to visit due to its history. Buffalo Bill started this establishment in 1902, and it seems there is a story behind every room and decoration. You can have a drink at the bar where Ernest Hemingway once sat, or gaze at the photo of William F. Cody himself posing in front of the hotel. If you’re in the area, I’d say you have to stop there for a meal just so you can say that you ate at Buffalo Bill’s Buffet! Our group stopped by for breakfast and I opted for the breakfast buffet including staples like potatoes, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and my favorite, the bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
Chuckwagon cooking demo & samples – Buffalo Bill Center of The West
720 Sheridan Avenue
Cody, Wyoming 82414
Phone: (307) 587-4771
This one isn’t a restaurant, but it’s a fun family food activity that I had to include! The Buffalo Bill Center of The West offers free chuckwagon cooking samples on their front lawn from 9 AM to 3 PM Mondays through Saturdays. Try a taste of some old fashioned cowboy beans and biscuits!
