Wine comes in quite a few flavors and it ranges from thin to full bodied and I’ve been trying to train myself in wine knowledge and I’m starting to be able to tell the difference. Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi sent me a bottle of wine that was fully bodied. I enjoyed it, the "Castelgiocondo" Brunello di Montalcino 2007 was rich, bold and felt round is how I would describe it. Retailed for $69, Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi "Castelgiocondo" Brunello di Montalcino 2007 would be a great gift to give a dad who is so difficult to shop for. Also, the wine is widely available in the US so it’s easy to find. .
Castelgiocondo is produced from a special selection of the finest Sangiovese grapes and it’s an elegant, well-balanced wine with magnificent structure. Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, the leading wine producer of Tuscany and one of the most historic and respected wine companies in the world, combines centuries of tradition with progressive winemaking techniques and practices. Founded in the 14th century and a supplier of wines to the royal courts of Europe for generations, Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi is still a family-owned company today.
The Frescobaldi history begins around the year 1000, when the first members of the family moved to Florence from the Val di Pesa area, more precisely from Castillione Vallis Pesae, now called Castiglioni. After settling in the Oltrarno section of the city, they built the lodge and the tower that still stand next to the building, in the Piazza de’ Frescobaldi. Some members of the family devoted themselves to banking, and immediately joined city guilds, the guild of bankers, wool merchants, and silk weavers, all of them among the “Major Guilds”; the seven most important guilds.

My husband said he didn’t really like it but it’s because of how filling and full it was. Some wines are lighter, this one is much thicker/fuller. To me it’s a wine you have to drink slowly and enjoy each flavor inside it.
