Ralph Breaks The Internet: How To Lounge Like a Princess

February 13, 2019 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Yesterday, I shared with you my drawing experience with Mark Henn in video form. Meeting Mark Henn & Drawing The Little Mermaid. He showed us how to draw Vanellope and The Little Mermaid. It was fun sitting down with him and learning how to draw both of these princesses. It’s amazing how all of the Disney animators are so good at teaching art. They break down these characters into really simple shapes and by the end of 15 minutes we have a princess on hand. Go watch my video if you haven’t already!Ralph_Breaks_The_Internet_Beauty_Shot_6.75_BD_US

For now, in honor of Ralph Breaks the Internet becoming available instantly on Digital 4K Ultra HD™/HD/SD and Movies Anywhere Feb. 12, yesterday, and physically on Blu-ray and DVD Feb. 26, we want to chat about lounging as a princess.

image

Remember that iconic princess scene? The one where all of the princesses come together in the PJ’s and just be cool and chill? Yep that’s what I’m talking about.

Disney has the MOST comfortable lounge wear from the movie that you will ever find.

image

I have some PJ’s for Merida and my daughter is convinced that she is going to steal them from me. I’m thinking not because every mom deserves to feel like a princess.

Relaxing like  a Princess:

To relax you need some of those comfy PJ’s image

The one thing that keeps my daughter from stealing them is that back

image

If Merida isn’t your princess don’t worry, they made them for each princess

image

Once you have your PJ’s you need a bath tub and bubble bath

image

You know, the Frozen Trailer was released today…..

Ok, so we have comfy PJ”s and some bubble bath. Let’s talk about a book, quiet time and possibly some wine.

Reading in the tub is one of my favorite ways to relax. Then afterwards I love to have some warm comfy PJ’s and a glass of wine and continue reading my book. I Disney Princess mom deserves that little bit of time without her children.

“Ralph Breaks the Internet” arrives home with a wide-range of exclusive extras, taking fans behind the scenes at Walt Disney Animation Studios to explore how artists created the film’s vibrant version of the internet — from comical cat videos to the intense online game Slaughter Race to shady characters on the Dark Net. Features also reveal some Easter eggs — inside jokes and references to other Disney films and characters hidden throughout the film — and filmmakers introduce some never before revealed deleted scenes.

Meeting Mark Henn & Drawing The Little Mermaid

February 12, 2019 by Momstart Leave a Comment

When I was 8 years old, The little Mermaid came out and I was instantly in love. I had The Little Mermaid T-shirts, The Little Mermaid artwork, and The Little Mermaid on VHS as soon as was humanly possible. I knew every word to every song. I could recite the entire movie, I even watched The Little Mermaid so many times I wore out my VHS. Remember when you could wear out a VHS?

Times have changed, and The Little Mermaid is still a classic fairytale and Disney is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Little Mermaid with it’s Signature Collection release on Digital, 4K Ultra HD and Movies Anywhere TODAY!

A few months ago, I got to sit down with Mark Henn, the artist who made that amazing hair. Yes, he animated Ariel. He taught us how to draw The Little Mermaid. He also told us a bunch of funny stories about the process of creating her. I showed this video of him to my web design class one day. Only one of my students was paying attention because he asked if what I was showing was actually appropriate for class.

From the set of ABC’s Single Parents #SingleParents #ABCTVEVENT

November 28, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

ABC has a new comedy this year and it’s really funny with a great cast of characters. image

The series stars Taran Killam as Will Cooper, Leighton Meester as Angie D’Amato, Kimrie Lewis as Poppy Banks, Jake Choi as Miggy Park, Marlow Barkley as Sophie Cooper, Tyler Wladis as Graham D’Amato, Devin Trey Campbell as Rory Banks, Mia Allan as Emma Fogerty, Ella Allan as Amy Fogerty and Brad Garrett as Douglas Fogerty. Rebecca Creskoff guest stars as Big Red.

imageOn my last visit to LA I got to walk a LOT of the set of Single Parents. You see, because Single Parents has so many kids in the cast, the set has to be really close and easily changeable. Children have very short working hours because they have to also fit in school during their work day. So they do quite a bit of magic and work very quickly and closely to get as much as they can out of those hours. And executive producer, Jason Winer says they have a lot of fun doing it. He also mentioned that they “cross shoot” to film.  IMG_8483

The cameras are firing both directions at once, and it requires the actors blocking to be really specific. Otherwise, you’ll see the other camera. And, again, that’s another way that we trust the kids. They can handle it. We’re saying like, you literally can’t move an inch that way. And they get it, you know what I mean? They’re amazing like that.

IMG_8485Not only did we get to talk to the executive producer, but we also got to chat with Jake Choi who is in love with the twins that play baby Jack. He walked on a lot of the tour with us. Which was really cool. he was a great guy to hang out with. IMG_8564IMG_8553

IMG_8549Another really interesting thing we learned is that certain rooms get re-dressed to be other people’s rooms. Will and Angie’s entire houses are the same set. They just switch them out as needed. Here are a few more photos I have from our set visit. IMG_8548IMG_8546IMG_8543IMG_8514 - CopyIMG_8514IMG_8556IMG_8558IMG_8559

Meanwhile, the rest of the gang explore their romantic passions as Douglas pursues his crush on Big Red with the help of Miggy, and Poppy feels an instant connection with a dreamy musician, on an all-new episode of “Single Parents,”

Visiting The Set of ABC’s The Rookie #TheRookie #ABCTVEvent

November 27, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Just a few weeks ago I got to walk onto the set of ABC’s new series The Rookie. The Rookies stars Nathan Fillion who plays, John Nolan a small town guy that decides to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer at the age of 40. He must navigate the dangerous, humorous and unpredictable world of a “young” cop, determined to make his second shot at life count. 150298_9579

THE ROOKIE – “The Roundup” – Nolan, the rookies and their training officers get involved in a competition that pits them against each other, while Officer Lucy Chen notices Officer Tim Bradford is obsessed with winning at all costs, on an all-new episode of “The Rookie,” TUESDAY, NOV. 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Rick Rowell)
NATHAN FILLION

Now, you guys know I really like Nathan, having interviewed him before and loving his acting since Firefly so when we ran into him, and yes, I mean ran into him it was very exciting. We were told he wouldn’t be there, but I had a feeling……I just had a feeling.

IMG_8462

We also spent a little bit of time with Mercedes Mason, who plays “Zoe Andersen”.

IMG_8474

Starting over isn’t easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LAPD officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.

We watched and listened to a tiny bit of rehearsals.

Why Ralph Breaks The Internet

November 21, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

moRalph Breaks the Internet is now in theaters and you should go see it. Ralph Breaks the Internet as my kids say it should be called Ralph Wrecks the Internet and neither is wrong. Ralph so Wrecks the Internet in Ralph Breaks the Internet. Ok, let’s take that back a step. image

Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope are the best of friends, they do everything together. At the beginning of the movie she voices that she’s a little bored and would love a new track to race, so Ralph builds her a new track. Of course when she finds the track she has to take it, and she loves it. BUT…. the kid playing the game gets so frustrated with Vanellope going in the opposite direction of where she wants her to go, breaks the controller. image

This causes the need for Vanellope and and Ralph to explore the internet. And this is where the fun of the movie starts. The internet is amazing. I have a feeling you could watch this movie over ten times and still see new things in the background. I actually can’t wait to see it again just to look at the background and find all the hidden things. image

Now the storyline moves along and Vanellope makes more friends. She meets the princess, and of course that is one of the best scenes in the movie. Then she meets a new gang of characters and Ralph gets very insecure and causes some big big trouble. image

Ralph Breaks the Internet really made me think about the friendships in my life. It really made me want to go call my friends and give them a big hug. It’s a great movie with a good lesson for everyone. GO see it this weekend as your Thanksgiving day or day after movie.

Oh My Disney Princesses Comes to Life #RalphBreaksTheInternetEvent

November 20, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Oh My, Oh My! Disney has created an adorable new adventure with Wreck-It Ralph as he travels through the internet with his best friend in the whole world. They are on the hunt for ways to make bank, because they need money to fix Vanellope’s game. As Vanellope is trying to help come up with some money, she ends up at Oh My Disney.

image

Oh My Disney has EVERYTHING Disney in it, including the infamous Princess Scene. Anything and everything you ever thought about the Disney princesses is said out loud, and it was all from the very creative writer Pamela Ribon. Co-writer Pamela Ribon discussed the inspiration for the scene, and Ami Thompson (Art Director, characters) and Kira Lehtomaki (Head of Animation) also sat down with us to talk about everything that went into creating this crazy busy Disney World.

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNETThey spent hours and hours of time watching cat videos. Pamela talked a LOT about The Princess Scene because it was pretty much her baby. She was terrified to present this scene to the team that makes the decision of if it will make it into the movie or not. imageAs she was sweating buckets, she realized they were laughing and nodding and everyone loved it. But how did it come about? She reached out to her friends and asked for help understanding the princesses. She asked questions like, who was enslaved? Who was kidnapped? Who fit into

what trope? She took these tropes and created the scene. She then wrote it out, and did all voices for the presentation, and guess what? She is now the voice of Snow White. image

The three of them were very excited about the entire storyline and the process of creating Oh My Disney. There was an entire process to bringing the Princesses into CG and into the world of comfort. The designers had a lot of fun creating the princesses pajamas. The whole crew came up with ideas for each princess shirts. They had a really hard time narrowing it down into one for each princess. You’ll have fun checking out those Pj’s when you watch Ralph Breaks the Internet this weekend.

Another interesting fact was how they researched the princesses. They went to the parks to meet the real princesses. They met the original voices of all the princesses. They also had a Princesspaloza where they worked with the art and animation department and played with the rigging, the facial expressions and just everything they needed to understand to bring each character into this new world of animation. They also worked a lot with Disney legend Mark Henn. Which is incredible. He really helped them understand how the princesses would move. It’s amazing how they worked together to create this amazing scene..

Ralph Breaks the Internet is in theaters November 21st.

Ralph Breaks VR: Amazing Virtual Reality Experience #RalphBreaksVR

November 15, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Ralph Breaks VR is a new immersive virtual experience put on by The VOID. The VOID is the global leader in immersive virtual experiences and ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment division, brings Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Ralph Breaks the Internet into their system and I got to preview it when I was in LA last week. pancake milkshake group photo

IT WAS AMAZING!!!

I’ve played around with all different kinds of VR before, but never have I stepped into something that felt so real my brain was making me feel unsure of my footing. I kept telling my brain, the ground is in front of you just as it was before you put the helmet on. You are not 100 stories off the ground, you are planted firmly in the real world. But if you had seen me walking you probably would have been laughing. And it was sooooo fun. I love a good thrill.

image

In teams of 4, guests will break into the internet with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz disguised as characters from the film called “Netizens” to play the newest, coolest video game ever. Ralph Breaks VR introduces two brand new locations, Dunderdome and Pancake Milkshake Diner, and a new antagonist, B.E.V. voiced by writer Pamela Ribon, which stands for “Built to Eradicate Viruses.” For more on this original hyper-reality story, watch the launch trailer here:

My friends and I put on the gear, which included a set of VR goggles, a boxy backpack, and later inside the game we got to use a plastic gun. We stepped up into the program and they loaded the images into our goggles. Then your imagination will take over because it feels so real. Like I mentioned above, I could not convince my brain that it wasn’t real.

Finding the experience for yourself may be a little challenging as The VOID only has 10 locations:

Anaheim, CA

Dubai UAE

Edmonton, AB

Gentin, MY

Glendale, CA

Las Vegas, NV

If you are near a location and have the opportunity to try it, I highly recommend you trying it.

Ralph Breaks the Internet World Premiere

November 8, 2018 by Momstart Leave a Comment

image

Just a few days ago I was at the Ralph Breaks the Internet World Premiere and it was a busy busy place. The carpet was FULL of people excited to see the movie for the first time. I mean, what would you expect when you are in front of royalty, princess royalty. By now everyone knows that Ralph Breaks the Internet has what is belovedly called “The Princess Scene”. Well not to give you any spoilers or anything, but there is more than just the scene to look forward to.

image

So while trying to walk my way down the BLUE carpet, I walked by some of the actresses that play the Disney Princesses giving interviews. They all looked so beautiful, even the newest addition, Sarah Silverman, who somehow changed after watching the movie and before the after party. It was like she used her magic Disney princess wand and transformed into Vanellope.

image

Speaking of the after party, it was amazing. I walked around with a few friends and took some phots, had an amazing dinner and then found a quiet place to sit. Shortly after, I realized we were sitting across from princess Moana, Auli’i Cravalho. She was nestled in a corner enjoying the after party when all of the sudden she was visited by almost every other princess that came to the party. It was amazing because I was suddenly surrounded by all the princesses. They hugged each other, and then Sarah Silverman jumped into the party of hugs too. Because I kept my phone down, I was able to just watch and enjoy the whole thing. As Sarah was leaving the party she jumped in my face said enjoy the party and bounded out of the room.  It was most certainly a night to remember.

image

So here are some photos from the Ralph Breaks the Internet World Premiere and after party.
