Groove Along With The Boxtrolls Original Motion Picture Soundtrack!

October 10, 2014 by Beeb Leave a Comment

The Boxtrolls Soundtrack

Promotional copy provided.

Earlier this year, both Louise and I had the opportunity to visit the set of The Boxtrolls at LAIKA Studios. It was a phenomenal experience getting to see the puppets and sets up close and personal, as well as meet the creative minds behind it all. I’ve been so excited to see the film ever since and all of its finishing touches – like the soundtrack.

Knowing how much care had been put into this movie from meeting the filmmakers, I knew the soundtrack would be on point also. The Boxtrolls Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features an ambient, atmospheric instrumental score by Dario Marianelli that really sets the tone for the picture.

Also featured are some lighthearted songs included in the movie, such as “The Boxtrolls Song” written by Eric Idle, the catchy and upbeat “Some Kids”, writen by Jessie Donaldson and Rilchie Young, and the cover of “Whole World” that you might recognize from the film’s trailers. This is a really fun CD in the spirit of the movie and a great add to your collection if you’re a fan of the film!

The Boxtrolls Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available on Amazon and wherever fine music is sold for $12.99. And make sure you catch the movie this weekend if you haven’t already!

Where I Belong Christy Nockels Into The Glorious #IntoTheGlorious

April 3, 2012 by Momstart 16 Comments

While I was listening to Christy Nockels and her NEW Album "Into the Glorious." I was thinking about the things I do as a mother. Specifically I was thinking about my weaknesses that I don’t share very often. I even try to hide most of them at time. Let’s see….

Christy_IntoTheGloriousI yell. I wish I didn’t but I do.

I get angry and impatient and I yell to get their attention

I get angry and I spank them.

I make them wait while I finish working.

I spend 10 minutes as craft time and then say it’s time to clean up because the mess drives me insane.

I can’t cook with them because the mess drives me insane

So many people tell me that I’m a good mom and the reason they say I’m a good mom is because I care. I care about my weaknesses and that I wasn’t perfect. I try to do better every day. I pray for God to help me be a good mother.

Jesus is ever lifting me. He forgave me for all of my sins. All the sins I did before I knew Him and all the sins I’m going to do from now on. He knows my weaknesses and loves me no matter what. He helps me grow and helps me to be that mom I want to be. When I pray and spend time in him I find that I have more time to spend with the kids. I find myself more willing to be flexible. He reminds me this is where I belong.

Christy_Radio ImageHe helps me get through an hour of craft time

He helps us bake in the kitchen and get really messy

He helps me to yell less and parent patiently.

He understands my imperfections and accepts me as I am.

Quoting Christy Nockels:

Jesus you are so wonderful in all Your Ways. So Wonderful.

Jesus you are so beautiful. So Beautiful

Motown meets Corneille

March 24, 2009 by MomStart 5 Comments

Before I even put the cd in to listen to I read Corneille’s story. His story is a very tragic one where he lost his family and his music is where he hid until now.

Corneille was born in Germany, but both of his parents were from Rwanda. He lived in Germany for seven years before meeting his home. He then lived in Rwanda feeling like a stranger, because of his Western upbringing. 10 years after moving there, he was lucky to survive the genocide of 1994. This was when he lost his entire family.

Instead of hating the world he decided to embrace life and the fact that his family showed him nothing but love.

“Music has been the place where i could go to hid and forget about the world. I couldn’t make sense of a majority of the things that happened to me, so i used music as a shield. But over time, music has become a vehicle to channel out everything that I’ve been keeping from myself for all these years. And the new album is definitely the most honest, real assessment of everything that’s happened in my life, because I’m not trying to hide as much.”

So now I introduce Corneille – The Birth of Corneille

Listening to his music, especially the first song Back to Life, I can hear his appreciate for the friends in Germany that took him in after he lost his family. I mean, he has lived his music. He has a soft sound and defiantly fits in with the R&B music style. I have a great appreciate for his lyrics and his music. I think that artists that are truly able to express themselves show true talent.

My New favorite Children’s CD – Giveaway

March 11, 2009 by Momstart 41 Comments

I have a new favorite Children’s CD. In The Nick of Time is fun to listen to and I do not get annoyed like I do when we listen to one of the other’s which for now I will be kind enough not to mention.
In The Nick of Time has 13 songs that we like to sing and dance to. It was so much fun and my kids enjoyed it. Miles does this bouncy thing when he likes something. He’s been bouncing since he was inside me, now he’s dancing to the Coconut Groove. The first time we listened to it my daughter was building with her legos. The Hang with me song came on and she started getting her little groove on while still building her structure. I have such talented kids.
About Nicholas Deysher:

As long as he can remember, Nick Deysher has been making music. After
earning a BA in Jazz Composition at Bates, the Massachusett’s native began
sharing his love of music with children as a preschool teacher. The children in
his class enjoyed his music so much, parents began asking Deysher for a CD. In
2001, Nick released his first children’s album, One Man Band. His blend of
musical styles and genres became an instant hit.

Not only is he a high energy entertainer he is generous as well. He has donated his CD to Bloggers Give. I asked him, and he said consider it done. I’m very proud to share his music with you.

Disney Giveaway featuring Tiffany Giardina

March 7, 2009 by Momstart 115 Comments

Win Disney style. . You can win a Disney prize pack inspired by Tiffany Giardina. Do you know who she is? She is a newer artist that Disney is promoting. Listen and watch her music video here. No one knows how to put a prize pack together like Disney right. I know it includes a stage banner.

She seems to be just like any other teenager. Happy, and funky and singing her heart out. She doesn’t dress older than she is and she’s got a great voice. I love to let my kids listen to clean music and we don’t’ watch a lot of tv. We did watch the Disney channel when we had cable so we would hear different songs in between shows and they would be just like this artist.

Her CD is available at Amazon

To Enter the Giveaway:

Visit Radio Disney and request Tiffany’s “No Average Angel”

Extra Entries:

You can enter as many times as you request it.

I’ll give one extra entry to my subscribers contest ends March 28.
