Love and mystery go together seamlessly in “Along Came a Nanny,” a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Original World Premiere on Sunday, October 12 (9pm ET/PT, 8C). I just love Cameron Mathison and he is great in Along Came a Nanny!
The recently rebranded Hallmark Movies & Mysteries (formerly Hallmark Movie Channel), with its October launch, features a unique mix of original movies and acquired series that focus on the lighter side of the suspense and mystery genres. “Along Came a Nanny” stars Emmy® nominee Cameron Mathison (“All My Children,” “The Christmas Ornament”) as detective Mike Logan, who decides following a series of gated community burglaries to go undercover as a nanny. When the Bannermans, a high maintenance family in need of domestic assistance, hire Mike as their nanny, he forms an unlikely bond with the children (Valin Shinyei “Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle” and Marcie Juiles “Eve of Destruction”). He figures this might give him a chance to do a little inside investigation. Things work out surprisingly fine – at first, then Mike forms a crush on Jessie (Sarah Lancaster from “Chuck”), a beautiful actual nanny working for a nearby family. Before long, the children start to rebel against Mike, since he isn’t very good at cooking, cleaning and babysitting. Plus, his police captain boss (Tom McBeath, “Supernatural”) isn’t terribly thrilled with him either, given that Mike seems to be paying more attention to Jessie than solving the case. A scandalous mayoral election erupts in the middle of all of this, a further distraction as Mike struggles to win the kids back to his side, identify the crooks and win over Jessie who thinks he’s a caregiver. Being a detective-turned-nanny proves to be a lot of work in “Along Came a Nanny,” but the good news for our hero is that a possible promotion and a life of true love may well be waiting at the end.
