As you may have noticed in Jai’s last post, we’ve been enjoying watching Netflix on our new projector this month! It’s been so fun to kick back and watch my shows and movies on the big screen. So, what have we been projecting? Well, my queue is always pretty heavy on the nostalgia – I have a lot of new movies on my list to check out, but sometimes I’ll sit down and think, “Nah! Let’s just watch Bill & Ted again!” 😉 I’m not the only one who enjoys a bit of retro escapism, though, so in honor of this, I’m sharing some of the top throwback fun you can find on Netflix this month:
1. Inspector Gadget
I dare you to read that title and not immediately start humming the theme song. Doo doo doo doo doo, Inspector Gadget…. A few weeks ago the song randomly popped into my head and I had to pull it up on YouTube.
I remember when I was little, I thought that Penny’s computer book was so cool, and my dad made me one by taking an old book, cutting out the middle, and gluing in a calculator. I thought it was the neatest thing ever and played with it all the time!
Well, things have changed a lot since the 1980s, but did you know that Inspector Gadget is back with a new Netflix original series? And yes, they do still have the same theme, but re-worked so that it doesn’t sound quite so…’80s. 😉
2. Danger Mouse
DANGER MOUSE! I hadn’t thought about this show in ages until I saw it on the list. I couldn’t tell you a thing about this show, but I remember having a cute bendy Danger Mouse toy that I played with a lot when I was a kid. I totally added this one on my list so I can walk down memory lane.
3. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
Jessie and I were both obsessed with this show when we were kids. You have to watch an episode of this, if only to see the most 1980s show intro ever. #Only80sKidsWillGetThis 😉
4. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Out of everything on this list, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is the one that holds up the best for me. I still watch it! It’s cheesy, hilarious, and comforting in its familiarity. But this will come as a surprise to no one considering that I dress up as Pink Ranger for Halloween.
So tell me, what are your favorite nostalgic shows to watch? Let’s share some memories in the comments!
