Bake Me a Wish Chocolate Cake #giveaway

July 14, 2009 by MomStart 513 Comments

Bake Me A Wish!™Bake me a wish sent me a full size cake and I didn’t get a single bite of it. We were invited to a Fourth of July party and I knew it would make a perfect treat to beat the heat and after some wonderful hamburgers. However, I had to take my kids home before the chocolate cake was cut into. My kids have an early bed time and they get GRUMPY if they are not in bed on time. Can’t really complain about having kids that WANT to go to bed if you know what I mean. So a friend of mine that ate some of the cake took a picture and wrote up what she thought about it.

Summer Said:

So here are my 2 cents:

IMG_2137I’m not chief and I am sure there are better people to review this cake.  However, most of us aren’t chiefs or we’d be making our own cakes.  But when you have to go somewhere or throw your own party sometimes baking your own cake is the LAST thing on your mind … especially as a mom!  The cake was surprisingly moist for a brownie-like cake; I find brownie from scratch, from a box, ones ordered or catered in are regularly dry.  The frosting was very creamy and the edge had chocolate shavings.  I love chocolate but I believe sometimes there can be too much.  This cake wasn’t like that at all.  A modest serving wasn’t too much — not too chocolaty (although it’s all chocolate), and not too sweet.

Best of luck with your review.

~Summer

Thanks Summer for writing that for me. I know I missed out on something yummy. They tried to save me a slice but I’m in and out of town right now with my blog. I feel like I’m spinning in circles non stop. I’m having a great time right now though.

I learned that Bake Me A Wish sponsored a giveaway on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, 2008
on the TV show The View. They gave everyone in the audience a cake and then gave the equivalent amount of cakes overseas to soldiers in Iraq.

    I learned this:

At what time will my gift cake be delivered?
It depends. If you choose to have a cake delivered via the standard 2-Day service or Overnight (“Next Day Air Saver”), UPS guarantees delivery by end of day, up to 7:30pm local time (though most deliveries occur by 5pm). You may also choose to send your gift cake via UPS A.M. Service, for which delivery is guaranteed by 12pm local time. The additional charge for A.M. Service is either $5.00 (if shipping via 2-Day service — businesses only) or $10.00 (if shipping via Overnight service — residential and business addresses accepted). Aside from the morning delivery service option, we are otherwise unable to request specific delivery times, as it will depend on when your recipient’s local UPS driver makes their rounds.

I learned about the Kids’ Freedom Cake program. When you purchase the Kids’ Freedom cake for a child in the US, Bake Me A Wish! will deliver a gourmet cake to a soldier serving overseas in the name of your recipient. In addition, your child will have the opportunity to include a letter to the soldier. This is 1 of 3 cake programs Bake Me A Wish! has for our supporting our troops. I think that is so cool. Oh, and all of their cakes are certified Chof-K (Kosher).

If no one is home at the time of delivery will my gift cake be left at the front door?
The answer to this question is both Yes & No – Yes, if to a house or deemed “safe to leave” by the UPS driver, however that is at the UPS driver’s discretion. No, if an office or an apartment where public display and accessibility is apparent. This is for both safety and security reasons. A UPS door notice will be left to communicate that a package delivery has been attempted.
