The 3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 to help kick off the holiday shopping season. The local toy stores in my area are amazing, they are some really great toy stores that I love to visit. I love to look and see what’s new and different. Many times they have really fabulous educational toys.

Neighborhood Toy Store Day introduces families to the fun of shopping locally and celebrates each toy store’s commitment to the community. Participating stores will host local in-store events for families such as face painting, craft projects, live performances and special discounts. Last year’s programs included crafts, entertainers, scavenger hunts, and charitable donations. Local stores have knowledgeable staff, offer special services like gift-wrapping, help preserve a vital downtown, and reinvest their profits in your community. Through Neighborhood Toy Store Day, customers see that specialty toy retailers are more than just stores, they are a central part of a vital community.
I found that the closest participating store is in Bellingham and they have ten reasons to visit them:
10 Reasons:
- See and play with ASTRA’s Best Toys for Kids 2012 winners
- 20% off one item of your choice (Excludes uniforms)
- First 25 people will receive a scratch-off coupon. One lucky winner will receive 70% off one item!
- for every "Best Toy" you buy, you enter a raffle to win a science kit from Thames and Kosmos ($45+ value)
- 5% donation of purchases to the Agape House (we love to support the community!)
- Visit Mrs. Claus & get your letters ready! We have all the supplies ready to write, docorate, and send wish lists to the North Pole. Bonus- we will pay your postage!
- Create a mural using Wikki Stix and take home a free pack of Wikki’s!
- With every purchase, receive a creativity kid generously donated by The Orb Factory (quantities limited)
- Helicopter demos from 11-3. Buy a helicopter during the demo, get $5 off.
- Be amazed by our new holiday window display!
I also found that many different stores in Vancouver are having a Neighborhood Toy Store Day, on different days with lots of other activities. To find a local event near you, visit (YourNeighborhoodToyStore.org.)
Be sure to remember: shopping locally fosters a sense of community and provides the following benefits:
o Economic stability
o Community development
o Reduced environmental impact
o A diverse product selection
o Better customer service
I am participating in a post sponsored by ASTRA and being compensated.
It stinks we have no local toy stores, maybe I should begin a business!
