While at Blogher this year I had the opportunity to preview the and improved Bitty Baby Doll Collection.
Knowing that I was going to meet with American Girl was the only reason my daughter was ok with me attending blogher this year. As you may know, my grandmother died and I spent three weeks in Texas without my kids and I missed them so much. I almost didn’t go to Blogher at all, but my daughter said, you can go to Blogher as long as you bring me home LOTS of…..PICTURES of the American Girl dolls.
I took lots of photos and then found out at the party that American Girl was going to give all attendees a Bitty Baby. My little girls has always wanted one of these dolls and my husband and I have been thinking about it, we may still end up getting her one of the bigger dolls but for now, she’s so ecstatic with her own baby doll.
Well, I took a video of letting her open the doll yesterday. This is her true excitement as she opened her brand new Bitty Baby…….
Available for sale on August 27th, American Girl will now sell 11 options for Bitty Baby so girls can choose baby dolls that look just like them. For Zoe I picked out the doll that had strawberry blond hair, the scalp is red and it reminds of me of how Zoe looked as a hairless baby.
Many more options will be available for eye colors, skin tone, and hair color. Plus, each doll will come with a hardback book that is beautifully illustrated. Other book options will also be available for sale to that are themed – like Bitty Baby the Brave and Bitty Baby Loves the Snow. All accessories are going to be upgraded as well. A few gorgeous examples included the wooden changing table and wooden crib.
I’m so proud of my daughter being happy with just photos that I didn’t hesitate to reward her with the doll. We usually donate large items like that but she proved to me that she has a heart of gold.
Which reminds me of one reason why American Girl Doll is such a company worth working with and purchasing. All of the dolls are full of heart and wholesome. They wear appropriate clothing they have great stories and children learn from them. The stories are sometimes about how girls went through hardships, and I had one mom telling me that another mom questioned her sanity because she was reading the American Girl books to her five year old daughter.
Teaching your children about slavery or any other hard topic isn’t insanity, it’s genius. It’s such a hands on way to teach them while they are holding their doll and listening to historical fiction.
I’m very proud to now say we are excited to be part of the American Girl family. Zoe is going to be off to the library in search of more of their books so we can start reading the historical fiction together too. Thank you American Girl for this wonderful gift.
