Mother’s Day is on Sunday, so if you haven’t already picked out a gift – you’d better get cracking! Luckily, GourmetGiftBaskets.com are here to save the day! Thanks to their service, you can order a beautiful gift basket that will be shipped straight to your mom’s door. I’ve reviewed several gift baskets from this company in the past, and they are always lovely. I received one of their top mother’s day picks, the Mother’s Day Wine bundle, and was impressed once again!
This gift basket contains two bottles of wine, crackers, cheese, sausage, peanuts, chocolate wafer cookies plus wine wafers. It’s the perfect set for mom to enjoy a picnic with dad – or just kick back and enjoy a snack while watching a movie! What better gift for a busy mom than the gift of a little pampering relaxation?
As soon as the basket arrived, I set about putting together a little wine tasting. I love setting out a tray with snacks and wine when Jai and I have a movie night, so this was the ideal set! I really enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva by Alto Tierrucav – it’s very smooth and delicious! The gift basket also comes with a nice Chardonnay by Backhouse, so you have a good mixture of red and white to pair with the food.
The snacks included in this gift basket are SO delicious! We loved the hot pepper cheese – cheese is a must-have for me during a wine tasting! – and the Garlic Summer Sausage was a big hit too. Paired with the tasty Hors d’Oeuvre Deli Style Crackers by Partners, they anticipated all my favorite bites to serve with wine. Rounding off the savory snacks were some tasty roasted, salted peanuts from J&R Gourmet.
For a little sweetness, we enjoyed the Chocolate Wafer Petites by Dolcetto – chocolate and red wine are one of my favorite treats! New to me was the concept of the Mocha Chocolate California Wine Wafers from the Sacramento Cookie Company. The idea of these wafers is that you take a bite of the wafer and then sip your wine to enjoy together. I thought this was a tasty idea, and Jai thought it made the wine taste better to him since he’s not a huge wine drinker and tends to prefer a sweeter drink. We had so much fun with this spread, and I think it would make a fantastic gift for anyone who enjoys a good wine and cheese night!
