Aloha Friday – Time Away

August 6, 2009 by MomStart 24 Comments

alohafriday5 Kailani says “In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response”. You should go to Kailani’s site and link up with Mr. Linky/Mk Linky, but be sure and answer her question.

So my question for today is

What is the longest amount of time you have been away from your family/Spouse/Significant Other?

This is the longest amount of time I have been away from my husband. We left to go visit my parents so that I could selfishly get some time away. I wanted to go on a few blogging trips. It’s been three weeks and we have two and a half more and I miss my husband so much. My kids are loving getting spoiled by the grandparents, but at night or when they are tired they miss daddy. So I was just wondering how long have you been away?

Well I was in hospital for 5 months, but he visited daily, so I doubt that counts. So I would say one of his week long business trips.

When he went with his boys to Vegas for his bachelor’s party for a week. We already had 2 kids then and you can guess who got to stay home with both of them while he did so.

Two and a half weeks when I had to work in Trinidad and Tobago. I flew her down for the last weekend and made up for it by taking her to a resort on Tobago. She forgave me. 🙂

Maybe a week. When we lived in Florida I would fly back to California several times a month to visit with our kids and grandbabies. Usully he was with me if it was for very long.

6 months back when we were newlyweds. Hubby was in the USAF & was on what is called a remote tour meaning that I couldn’t go w/ him. His follow on assignment was overseas but we had to be married for 6 months in order for me to go over @ the same time. That was very tough since we got married & then he left 2 weeks later.

The longest time away was for one week, when I went to visit my sister.

My husband and I went to high school together, and then to the same college, so for 5+ years we saw each other nearly every day. Then he moved to South Korea for 2 years – and once he came back, it was like before, seeing each other almost daily. The first time we were apart for any significant length of time was when I went to visit my parents last fall while I was pregnant with my firstborn. I could add it all up, but that sounds like a lot of work, and this is Aloha Friday, right? Let’s just relax, instead.

I would say just a week or two while he was in training way back when. Nowadays, it’s just one or so when it happens for a business meeting.

I’ve never been away from my kids, really. When I had my daughter, the hospital was really great and even allowed my son to stay in my room with me. 🙂

My husband has been gone for three nights for work before, so that’s the longest I’ve been away from him.

    I know how lucky I am. 😀

I have never personally been away from my boys and hubby yet. With a just two year old it has not happened yet. The longest I was away from hubby was when he went to his grandma’s funeral this winter. We could not go along since our little guy was very sick.

Four days has been my max time away from The Hubs. And both times, I’ve had the kids with me! As far as time away from the kids?? Five hours. Seriously.

Wow! I need to get away! Ha! Ha!

My husband is a pilot so he’s away a lot. However, when he was the military, he would be gone up to six months…I think it’s saving our marriage:)
