Alexia Foods Making Sides Easy and Guilt-Free – #GIVEAWAY
When some people see “guilt free” beside a food, they think that means low-fat, low-calorie, or something like that. For me, I think guilt free means it’s something I don’t need to feel bad about giving my family. Let me start off by being honest. As much as I might like to, I do not provide an all natural diet for my family. I do try though, and I make smart, “natural” choices whenever I can. That’s one of the reasons I absolutely love Alexia Foods. I discovered them a couple years ago and their delicious little sweet potato tots. Now they’ve made my tastebuds, tummy, and conscience happy with their Alexia Multi-Grain Onion Rings and Alexia House-Cut Julienne Fries.
On any given day when you are trying to feed a family, getting a healthy meal onto the table can be a challenge. Add in the craziness of the holidays and somedays it can be near impossible! That’s actually what happened in our house the other night. On just a normal crazy day, I looked at the clock and realized it was dinner time. I had planned burgers as our meal, mostly because it was super nice outside and felt like a burger kind of day, but also because it was fast and easy. Figuring out a tasty, fast, and not unhealthy side dish for burgers though is usually my downfall. I mean who doesn’t want fries or onion rings with a burger? I remembered I had these great Alexia products to try out and was pretty excited!
So what did we think of the fries and onion rings? The fries tasted similar to most other frozen French fry type foods… only it really did taste more like real potato. That’s probably because the Alexia House-Cut Julienne Fries only have five simple ingredients: farm-fresh potatoes cut with the skin on, canola oil, sea salt, apple juice concentrate and citric acid. Even oven baked, these fries had a great crispy outside, but without the greasiness.
I have to say I absolutely LOVE the Alexia Multi-Grain Onion Rings. I’m a huge fan of onion rings anyway, but onion rings without the grease that are covered in multi-grain goodness (breading made with whole wheat flour, brown rice and corn flour)? Yes, please!
