We are planning on taking a vacation but we’re planning our vacation to take place in October during the off season. Plane tickets are quite high during the summer so we’re had a staycation and I think we’re going to be having a few more staycations while we’re at it. How did we spend ours?
The blogging conference BlogHer Food took place earlier this month in Seattle. I purchased a hotel room thinking that I didn’t want to leave my family stranded without a car. We only have one you know. When it came time for me to leave my husband mentioned how much fun it would be if we all stayed in the hotel room together, so they stayed with me. We had a great time in the pool and the kids spent some of the time exploring Seattle. They had to get breakfast and they found an amazing pancake house within walking distance to the hotel.
We also had to get a family dinner one night and we wanted to do it on a budget. Most of the surrounding restaurants to our hotel were 45.00 a plate and that’s not in our family summer fun budget so we called the concierge. He sent us a block away to a fabulous place called Rock Bottom Brewery. It was amazing and exactly what our budget called for. We stayed in one king size bed and although it wasn’t a cozy dream come true for my husband and I the kids had the best slumber party. Our fun didn’t end there. We ended up at home and making s’mores on the grill. We’re making small fun memories with the kids and that’s what summer is all about.
So what can you explore in your local area having a staycation? We challenge you to plan a stay-cation in your own city! What family activities have you been meaning to get around to? What recipes have you planned on trying out that have been thrown on the backburner? What places around your neighborhood have you still not explored? We challenge you to put together a full weekend stay-cation.
