I love my little guy… I really do. I think I’m luck to be able to stay at home to take care of him, play with him, feed him, clean him, teach him, wake up with him, time out him, de-poop him, teach him please and thank you… well… you get the point.
I’m in Seattle (odd to be here visiting, but that’s a whole different post) for BlogHer Food and flew out here yesterday from sunny NC… by myself. I flew solo… and it was OH SO WONDERFUL! Yes, the goodbye at the airport sucked. I realize that isn’t exactly an eloquent way to put it… but it’s about the best I’ve got at the moment. He latched onto my arm, shouted “No go, Mama! Ax fly Mama plane too. Ax all do car…” with the giant crocodile tears streaming down his face. (By the way “all do” means all done… and “Ax” is what he calls himself) So… after that drama… and the crazy chaos that has been our lives for the past 45 days, I headed to my plane.
I had my carry on suitcase, my backpack, and me. That was it. No stroller, no carseat, no toy bag, no toddler, no sippy cups… I was flying solo. What else goes to show I was on my own? I was asleep before we got off of the tarmac for the first flight, and slept until landing! On flight number 2 I read an entire book, got some work done, AND took a nap! INCREDIBLE!
I do miss Atticus. This will be the longest I have ever been away from him. I’m not crying myself to sleep at night or anything, but I do miss the little guy. I know I’ll be an even better mom when I get back though. Refreshed and re-energized! You know what’s even better? I get to go back East the same way I got out here… flying solo!
How could I NOT miss this?!?
