Ever wondered where you friend was when they were running late. Not just five minutes late but maybe over an hour late and they aren’t answering their phone. I’ve been in this position with my husband before. I used to worry terrible when we first got married and he had one of his all nighters at work. Of if he had a meeting that wasn’t scheduled and I was expecting him to be home at five. He was usually good at calling me before hand but if he forgot then all I did was worry. Well, now you can keep track of your loved ones with an app called Folr, a great family locator app.
Folr, a location-tracking application, that gives real-time information on the whereabouts of family members, significant others, best friends and more. Installed on any mobile device (smartphone or tablet), it unobtrusively updates you on the locations of the most important people in your life. And it shows the location of where they’ve been from the time table you choose. Look at the photo below. It shows a 24 hour time span of travel for one day. I have a friend of mine whose husband likes to go on Motorcycle road trips and doesn’t always check in; or at least not as often as she would like. This app would give her a piece of mind.
Think about what it can do for you as a parent as well, it’s an innovative parenting tool. Kids have more devices now than ever and they usually have their devices on them. Usually right in the palm of their hand. At school it’s probably the first thing they use after class so now you can find out where they are if they don’t go straight home from school like they are supposed to.
Folr is about a piece of mind, it is a tool for anyone who has loved ones – parents, children, spouses, significant others and close friends. Knowing where they are at any given point in time gives the reassurances to set your mind at ease.
On a larger scale this can be used by teachers, principles, and chaperones on field trips. I’ve always wondered how two chaperones are expected to keep up with 20 teenagers. Now they can determine where they are. Administrators can be easily be updated on the whereabouts of its entire student body. Zones can be created around the campus grounds during school hours. With all students being tracked by Folr in real-time, it will be easy to note if anyone is absent. This makes the school’s attendance taking, discipline and on-campus liability much more manageable.
Gatherings:
After a long week of meeting deadlines, many go for a night out on the town to relax. With Folr, revellers will be able to see which of their friends are also unwinding in same Zone. Also, with location tracking, if any merrymakers wander from the pack, their mates will know where to reunite. This makes it much easier for buddies getting and staying together.
How to get started
First, download Folr from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store for free.
Second, users can select whom they wish to follow from their phones’ contacts.
Third, Folr will send that person a request. When they accept, they will be prompted to download Folr to be a user as well.
After that, users will be able to:
– Get real-time, detailed information on the location of your loved ones
– Get detailed location history of your loved ones for up to a year
Free app, can be downloaded at App Store and Play Store.
Wow this is a must have for me. My son commutes and I am always worried when he is late.
I love the idea of this. I know my 16 year old would think it was an invasion of her privacy but I love the peace of mind it offers.
That is awesome! I would like this on my husband’s phone! My kids are not old enough to have cell phones but when they are I cam going to have to remember this!
May I just say that I’m oh so glad my mom didn’t have this when I was a teen. Ha! And that being said, this really could come in handy on international trips and such, in places where it’s easy to get lost (like Venice)…if it works overseas.
I love this. It would be me a little more open to letting my older kids have more freedom.
The moment my child gets a cell phone, this app will be loaded right on there!
With a kid in college, this is a great app. I hate we need to keep tabs like this but it is a necessity these days.
This would put many parents at ease knowing the whereabouts of their kids.
