Zootopia is now playing in theaters and is a must see for well just everyone. Yes it’s a family movie and yes it’s an adult movie and yes it’s a kid movie. This movie is going to…no, this movie DOES appeal to everyone. Let me explain. When kids see animated animals on the tv screen they say Mommy I want to go see that movie. Adults might see it in passing and say no way not another talking animal movie but hold your horses that’s not what this movie is. This movie is more than your average talking animal movie where the animals move around as anthropomorphic creatures. I’ll admit a year ago when Disney started talking about this movie I thought Oh no..But I was oh so wrong.
I’ve also had parents who said as soon as they saw the sloth they knew they wanted to see the movie, I have good news, the sloth is not the only funny scene in the movie…
There is also Clawhauser, I loved him.
Oh and there is the elephant in the room…poor Judy..
Finally we have Gazelle
Zootopia has a cute story with an amazing theme. A little bunny named Judy Hopps played by Ginnifer Goodwin wants to be more than just a bunny gardener like her parents. She moves to the big city and is assigned as a meter maid. She is determined to show everyone she has the chops to be a cop, she did after all graduate top of her class at the academy. Her chief puts her on an impossible case and she runs into Nick Wilde played by Jason Bateman who has quite a bit of himself in this fox. So if you like Jason Bateman’s humor then you’ll love this character as much as I do.
Now these two pair up to solve the crime and of course things get complicated, feelings get hurt, characters run away and then truly discover themselves. It’s a story of overcoming hardship, friendship and trust. I’m really impressed with how Disney put layer upon layer in this movie. Yes the kids will see their cute animated characters on the screen and love it. Adults will see complex characters with a lot of connections to pop culture that we all know and love. You will laugh! Go see it now!
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.
