Running a home can be a daunting task, and with your own responsibilities as well as keeping track of your family, sometimes, ensuring that your house looks its best is impossible. Thankfully, there areeasy ways that you can spruce up your home and its décor without having to break the bank or spend months trying to complete. Check out the following four simple ways to spruce up your home quickly and cheaply.
If you have had the same paint on the walls since you moved in, it’s time to make a change. One of the easiest ways to add some life to your home is to change the paint color. Paint is very cheap to buy, and it’s also easy to do on your own, so you don’t need to worry about spending a fortune or losing too much time. Plus, while simply changing the paint color will do a lot for your home, you can also add some extra pizazz by having an accent wall in your home too. Pick a bold color for one wall in an area of your home, or you can even do something different, such as stripes, chevron, or another type of pattern.
2. Wall Art
Bland walls are boring; however, who has the money to buy an oversized piece of art to hang as a conversation starter? Not many. But that doesn’t mean that your walls need to be bear. There are plenty of ways that you can spruce them up. First, try some new art on your wall in the form of smaller pieces. Or, you can use an old picture frame and create your own artwork, or even hang up pictures the kids made using fun frames. If that’s not your style, try hanging pictures on the wall of your family and friends, or make a collage out of items you love. There is so much you can do with a blank wall that there is no reason to ever have one sit empty.
Sometimes sprucing up the home doesn’t involve a makeover. Instead, if you can declutter areas of your home that seem overrun with crap, you’ll be surprised at the difference it can make. Take some time to go through every area of your home and purge the items you no longer need. Be sure to recycle, donate, and throw things away as you see fit. Sometimes just simplifying a room’s décor is a great way to not only make it look great, but to also make it feel like a completely different room.
Although you may not be looking for a project, changing out the flooring in your home is a great way to revitalize the room. If you have old carpeting, consider replacing it with new carpet or with hardwood/laminate flooring. Carpet and laminate are cheaper options that you can do yourself, which can make them an easy weekend project to tackle for a new look. If you like hardwood, you can install them yourself with the right tools, but it is a bit more time consuming to tackle.
If you don’t have the money for something new, try to give new life to your current flooring. For example, if you have hardwood, having it restained is a cost-effective way to give it a new look. If you have carpet, having it deep cleaned can make it look brand new, or adding a new area rug over an existing carpet can give it new life too.
There are plenty of ways for you to spruce up your home quickly and cheaply. Just take a look around your home and decide what it is you want to tackle, and then get to work.
