At the end of this week, we’ll be welcoming summer and marking the start of sunnier days. This is a good time of year to do a little closet reorganizing as you pull out lighter clothes and pack away the heavier layers from cool Spring days. As I’ve been assessing my own dresser drawers, I’ve realized that I have a serious deficit of pants, specifically jeans. I don’t tend to wear jeans that often, which most people find shocking, but I’m more of a “Dress girl”. However, my opinion can be swayed when I find a really cute, girly pair of denim! I’ve started to realize that I need at least one pair of go-to jeans that I can pack when I travel, since jeans are a necessity for a lot of outdoors activities – I made a mental note to add jeans to my shopping list last week when I was packing for a trip that involved kayaking, and realized that I didn’t have a good pair of denim to bring along. I started scoping out NYDJ this afternoon and was impressed by the variety of styles – these aren’t just dull old denim! Here are my three favorite looks for this summer: Jeans that even this dress-wearing-girly-girl can get behind!
1. Super Skinny Jeans
I always try to go for a skinny cut when I buy jeans, because I think it looks much more flattering – square, boxy cut jeans just don’t do me any favors.
The ’90s are back, and I’m so excited about it! This updated take on acid wash is a fun throwback that makes me want to dig out my scrunchie. Fun fact: Back in the late 1990s, teenage me bought a couple of pairs of jeans and created my own, handmade acid wash jeans by tying them up in rubber bands and dunking them into a bucket of bleach. I looked extremely cool! 😉
3. Black Denim
I love darker shades of denim, and generally prefer them to traditional blue jeans. These black jeans look really chic and could be dressed up or down easily – and the more versatile a pair of pants is, the better!
