Inside The Muppets: The Commonalities Between Miss Piggy And My Daughter
My daughter who is only four is so excited about The Muppets coming out November 23rd. She wants to watch anything and everything we can find on the internet that has Miss Piggy in it. Miss Piggy has suddenly become one of my daughters idols and as I sit here thinking about how interested Zoe is in Miss Piggy it’s no big surprise because they have so much in common.
In an interview with Miss Piggy she was asked how she liked working at French Vogue, well, she got right down to the point. She didn’t really work there she was acting for the Movie The Muppets. “I did not really work there. This is a movie we’re talking about. You all know that, right? It was, it was lovely. It was lovely. I wish we’d actually shot on location. Paris, — we shot here in the back lot.” If you haven’t noticed, Miss Piggy is a very direct character, over the top at time direct. So is my daughter!
Something else they both have in common is that they are both very fashionable. Zoe has had a fashion sense since she was 15 months old. She just learned how to walk and suddenly she was picking out her own clothes and accessories. And Miss Piggy says fashion is wonderful and loves the clothes she wears in the movie. “Those are real and it’s wonderful, it’s fabulous. I love to do free clothes from, from fashion designers.” And so does my daughter!
When I asked Miss Piggy what her favorite color was, she said she wears a lot of lavender and that probably is her favorite color. Lavender matches everything. My daughter must have gotten her coordination directly from Miss Piggy because she’s always wearing some shade of purple even when I think it doesn’t at all match. I just keep my mouth shut because I know she’ll just tell me I’m wrong and have no fashion sense. Not like they do at least.
One thing I adore about Miss Piggy is the great advice she gave about kids playing outside. She said, “Kids need to play. They need to go outside and play and run and jump and skip and have fun.” This makes me quite happy with Zoe’s new idol choice.
Some other great advice I’ve seen Miss Piggy share is about Facebook. Miss Piggy wants you to like the Muppets on Facebook a Bazillion times because you guys are wasting likes on things like Lima Beans. Zoe agrees! The only green you should like is Kermit! The Muppets comes out in Theaters November 23rd.

Lands’ End Summer Dress With Zoe
My daughter loves to wear dresses. I buy her pants on the off chance she’ll decide to wear them and it’s 98.9 percent bust with the pants. So, I buy her lots and lots of Summer dresses. We can layer with Summer dresses and then in the Spring and Summer when it’s warm enough she can just wear the Summer Dress.
Land’s End has some great options for Summer clothing and I let Zoe help in the picking process of One outfit from the knit kit . Have a look at what she has to say:
It wasn’t very hard for Zoe to choose which outfit she liked the most from the Tired Knit Dress or Short sleeve jersey dress . She went with neither of them because neither of them were the color purple. She LIVES in purple. Instead she chose the Girls’ Short Sleeve Ruffle Henley Dress because she could get it in SOLID purple.
Lands’ End makes quality soft clothing that I love to wear too. I love to wash it too because it doesn’t shrink. I actually bought the dress quite big for Zoe because I forgot that Lands End clothing does not shrink, so she’s going to be wearing the dress for a while, and I’m ok with that. As long as she doesn’t wake up tomorrow with a new favorite color. You know how kids can be.

Happy Birthday Zoe!! My Baby is 4
Oh My Dear Baby Girl,
You have changed so much this last year. Looking at your face I see that you are no longer a toddler but now a little girl. You know what you want and how to get it and have always been so independent. You showed me just how grown up you were when you didn’t even need to give me a hug on your first day of school.
You always surprise me with how quickly you learn things and warm my heart with your laughter and smiles. You have been happy since the day you were born. No one believes your father and I when we tell people you were born smiling!
You have such a huge heart and teach me how easy it is to love every day. I can’t imagine a day in my life without you and look forward to watching you grow and grow and grow, as you like to sing to me. (She has a song that she sings about growing bigger every day. I think she learned it at church because she sings about praying God as she’s growing bigger and bigger. ![]()
Which reminds me of how you bring me closer to God. You always show us how simple it is to love God and I thank Him every day for the borrowed time I have with you, because as every year passes, I know you move closer to when you will be old enough to be on your own. Which reminds me that I need to enjoy every second of every day.
I love you Zoe!
Happy Birthday Baby girl, even though you always remind me that you aren’t a baby anymore, you will always be my baby girl!
Subtracting Oranges
Zoe always surprises me!
I was sitting at the table peeling a Satsuma, with the bowl full of them in front of me, when Zoe started showing me that she knows how to subtract. She said, Mommy there are five oranges and if I take away one there will be, one, two, three, four.
Then Mommy if I take away one there will be one two three.
Then Mommy if I take away one there will be one, two!
Then Mommy if I take away one, there will be ONE!!!
Then if I take away on there won’t be ANY oranges left!
First off, I have to say, my mouth hit the floor. I was in shock that my daughter understood the concept of subtraction. I am not the kind of mom that sits down with my kids and teaches them things. My little sponges that they are, soak up information when I least expect it.
We spent December using an advent calendar and without even realizing it, I taught my 3 year old how to subtract. We would count how many days were left until Christmas every day, and I didn’t even think of it at the time, but I taught my daughter a life long lesson!
HA!
Sometimes this parenting thing is so EASY! (of course the other shoe will drop tomorrow!)
