Do Not Wash Pull Ups in Your Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine

HA! I’m sure this is something that doesn’t even need to be said out loud right? Do Not Wash Pull Ups, diapers, pads of any kind in Your Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine or in any washing machine for that matter. At least my Whirlpool Duet Washing machine had the Clean Washer cycle where I could drop in an Affresh tablet and clean it before resuming the laundry.

Whirlpool Clean Washer Cycle

My adorable son is no longer wearing diapers, in face he’s even out of pull ups. Until a week ago he was only wearing them at night, now he’s not wearing them at all. When he was wearing them he was pretty good about putting them in the trash can every morning when he changed into his underwear. Sometimes I would find them in the floor of his room and I’d have to remind him that they go in the trash can.

Now, I go to do laundry and I sorted all of the laundry. I sort by whites, denim, pinks orange and red, and then blues greens and yellows. I did laundry as I normally would. I loaded up the blue, set the machine to wash the clothes and walked away. I actually forgot that night to move them over to the dryer which is ok because the washing machine has a keep fresh setting. That morning I remember that I need to move the clothes over. I open the washing machine door and find some gooey gunk falling off of the washing machine door. Oh, I think to myself, I must have forgotten to empty a pocket. Then I look in the machine and I see it EVERYWHERE. It was disgusting. Gooey beaded up gunk all over the clothes. Gooey messy stuff all over the rim, the door the sides of the machine. YUCK!!!!

I started pulling out the clothes and inside I found the guilty culprit. The last Pull Up he wore ended up in my washing machine. I wanted to yell at him, but it wasn’t his fault mommy put it in the washing machine. He was the good boy that picked up his clothing and put it in the laundry room. He just forgot to separate his pull up from his pants. So I had to close the laundry room door and yell at myself as I shook out all the laundry and prepared it for an Affresh cycle. At least after the machine cleaned itself I was able to resume laundry without too much work.

SIGH!!!!

Whirlpool Duet Washer & Dryer Specialty Cycles & Fun Features #Whirlpoolmoms

The Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer have been in my home for a few months now. I’ve used the Affresh Clean cycle twice now and I’m still very happy with how it works. Today, I wanted to take you all a little deeper into the Specialty cycles. I made a video for all of you to watch but understand that some of you just aren’t into watching videos. So you can read about the specialty cycles down below.

The washer’s easy-‐to-‐fill liquid detergent reservoir can hold up to 36 loads in one fill! I love how it just knows how much soap to use for each cycle and I can run it quite a few times before needing to refill it. I must not be filling it all the way because I’ve never made it 36 loads. I’m only filling it to the line, which must be the halfway mark and not the fill line, because I would say that I get about 15 loads in-between each fill.

The washer senses load conditions and manages the precise release of each additive at the right time during the cycle for optimal fabric care and cleaning. So far the only additive I have used is the laundry detergent. There is also a place for bleach and fabric softener.

whirlpool specialty features

Smart temperature control helps reduce shrinking and color bleeding and the washer offers 14 specialty fabric care cycles. One thing I hate is fading, so I love that I can keep my blacks black and my colors bright! I used to always thing that it had nothing to do with the washing machine. I always thought it relied solely on what type of laundry detergent you use. Care control temperature management enabled by 6th Sense technology helps protect your clothes by controlling water amount and temperature.

With so many cycle options you can choose from Hand Wash Cycle, which mimics washing in the sink for care of hand wash only garments, to Deep Clean Steam Option, which penetrates deep into fabric fibers, breaking down and dissolving stains like grass and grease without pretreating. The specialty cycles let you wash kids clothes as if they were dirtier than everything else. Cause you know they are. Also you can wash blankets on a blanket setting and jeans on a jeans setting. Many of the settings you can change the water temperature or how hard the spin cycle runs. There is a my specialty cycle that is completely customizable and saved on the machine for your next run.

The Whirlpool Duet Washes Itself #Whirlpoolmoms

So far so good, the Whirlpool Washer and Dryer are still doing a great job. So one day I was washing and all the sudden my washing machine said, I need to be cleaned, please run the Affresh cycle. Umm, good thing I already had some Affresh on hand.

The Affresh® washer cleaning kit, specifically designed for HE washing machines, specially The Whirlpool Duet like I have, helps remove and prevent odor-causing residue build-up that can accumulate in all brands and configurations. Having had an HE machine in the past that I did not wash once a month, I know that this is what I need to do for my new one and thank goodness it reminds me when a month is over because I can’t keep up with a month. Where did September go people?

The oxygenated bubbling action of the Power Puck™ tablet penetrates and dissolves unseen residue in areas that cannot be reached like behind the washer drum, while the specially formulated Grit Grabber™ cloths clean within reach by breaking up residue around the rubber door seal and detergent dispenser, locking it into the cloth. Combined these powerful tools provide a more effective cleaning option than bleach alone.

If used once a month, the Affresh® washer cleaning kit can help prevent odor-causing residue from accumulating. Heavily soiled washers may require repeated treatments to remove traces of odor and residue. In this case, Whirlpool recommends running three successive washer cleaning cycles with one Affresh® tablet in each.
