A Love of Hallmark Ornaments

Happy Holidays Hallmark Photo OrnamentQuite simply put, I love Hallmark Christmas Ornaments. My husband and I drool over their Star Wars and Star Trek ornaments every Christmas. Me being the tightwad that I am have never been able to stomach the price of the Hallmark Holiday Ornaments, however, somehow having children makes the price, not quite as important.

One of the frames we just love, are the large array of Our Family Hallmark Photo Ornamentphoto ornaments. We have two we purchased last year, and two I received from Hallmark PR this year. The ones we have last year, one has a family picture and the other has a photo of the kids together. So this year, we did the same thing with the photo frames we received for review.

The Happy Holidays photo frame with the photo of Zoe and Miles playing on the couch plays the song, “Happy Holidays”. It was fun putting it on the tree because Miles man pushed the button about 10 times. Christmas makes me so happy! I adore everything about Christmas, the music, the food, the family time. I LOVE IT.

Jessie Hallmark OrnamentThis year when we were searching for the special ornaments for the kids (we get ornaments for the kids every year, it’s a tradition, it’s been a tradition for my husband and I since we were both kids and we wanted to do it for our own children) we waited a tad too long for one of them.

The kids are very much in Love with everything Toy Story. It doesn’t matter which story, 1, 2, or 3 Miles loves them all. Zoe, prefers the episodes with Jessie of course, which is why we Fisher Price Airplane Hallmark Ornamentpurchased the Jessie ornament for her. Which leads me to what we waited too long for. We wanted to get Miles the High-Flyin’ Friends. Apparently Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments are harder to find especially the Toy Story ornaments. We called every Hallmark Store in the area, and my husband decided to pick another ornament for Miles man. He picked out the Play Family Fun Jet. The Family Fun Jet was still a great big hit. Miles Loves it. He loves airplanes, he loves Our Christmas Tree 2010taking me on blogging trips because he knows that means he will get to see another airplane.

So this is our Christmas tree, it’s filled with lots of love, beautiful lights, and plenty of meaningful ornaments.

We received A Hallmark Sample Kit of assorted Hallmark items, including the two photo frames you see in the first pictures. I was in attendance at a party sponsored by Hallmark at Blogher 2010 and connected with their PR firm there. None of this affects the fact that I have and always will love Hallmark. They have excellent products all year round, Precious Moments were always a big tradition growing up, but now, it’s mainly a Christmas store, and of course, I can always find the perfect card in there too. Thank you Hallmark for the samples. Miles and Zoe also love the Recordable Story book Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Toy Story 3 Return of the AstroNUT!

clip_image001[4]Toy Story 3 was the first movie we took the kids to see in the theater. We went during naptime hoping that just in case they weren’t able to sit there for a few hours watching a movie that they would take a nap. Umm, Toy Story Three captivated their attention and they could do nothing but stare at the screen and watch it. Occasionally they would ask, what happened to Woody, what happened to Buzz. Oh know, did they get thrown in the garbage? It was so much fun for all of us. So as soon as we could pre-order it we did. Thanks to Disney we received a free copy, so look forward to a giveaway later this month, of course, I have a special surprise to go along with the Blu-ray, you’ll just have to wait and see.

In Toy Story 3, imageAndy has grown up and the toys are desperate to get him to play with them. They fear that when he goes off to college he’s just going to throw them away. Turns out he wanted to keep them in the attic but they accidentally get donated to Sunnyside Daycare; a place run by Lotso bear. The toys quickly find out it’s not the best place to be after all, and Buzz tries to make an arrangement with Lotso and that’s when the Astronut returns. Toy Story 3 isn’t titled return of the astronut because that’s just a small part of the movie, but it is one of my favorite lines. Woody asks, Where’s Buzz. Jessie says something like they did something to him. Hammy says, yeah, Return of the Astronut. And Woody slaps his own head because he completely understands what that means. LOL.

imageWhat adults don’t like Toys Story, with all of the innuendos and little funny nuances. It’s a perfect combination of kids movie that adults can love too! My kids love Toy Story 1, 2 and 3, whose don’t?  They have Woody, Jessie, Buzz and….. yes they are just a tad bit spoiled, but you would never notice by their attitudes. Miles has Toy Story Bedding to go along with his Robot themed room. I know Buzz isn’t a robot, he’s a spaceman but it’s close enough for a 2 year old. I thought for sure Miles would only be happy as Buzz for Halloween, but look at my little red headed cowboy. He dressed up as Woody and was quite excited. We have a new dog, her name is Abby but the kids said that in honor of Halloween, Abby became known as Slinky Dog!

So that is our family story involving Toy Story 3. I have included some videos and DVD specs below, and I hope you enjoy the show!

This storyboard was drawn by Toy Story 3 story artist Jeff Pidgeon and is one of approximately 500 drawings done by various story artists in the final storyreel of Sequence # 300 – Warm Welcome, where the toys are welcomed by Lotso and tour the Butterfly room at Sunnyside Daycare.

This frame shows the camera and staging phase which precedes character animation, known as Layout. The set is not fully built at this point and is finalized once layout is finished. Some background toys are still not present. Set dressing is also not final and will be refined once animation is completed.

Final animation of the characters’ clothes, which is animated by dynamic simulation.  In this shot, Barbie and Ken clothes are simulated.  This final frame shows the final shading (material textures) for the set and all of the surfaces have texture, color, patterns, and material properties that will respond appropriately when lit by the Lighting Department.

Final lighting. The Lighting Department is responsible for integrating all of the elements (characters, set pieces, cloth animation, etc.) to create the final imagery. The lighting is achieved by placing virtual light sources in the scene which illuminate on the characters and the set. Many dozens of lights are often required as well as lighting effects such as the shafts of sunlight seen in this shot. Lotso was a particularly challenging character for the Shading and Lighting Departments because he is completely covered with fur.

Just a Few Last Minute Easter Basket Ideas

If you are like me you have not purchased your Easter Baskets for your kids yet and you probably won’t do anything about it until Friday or Saturday. So where are the sales and what are you getting?

HEXBUG Micro Robotic Creatures would make a great addition to an Easter Basket!

We received one of these little creatures to use as a donation. We gave it to the Eastside Domestic Violence Shelter. I hope that they are able to find a child to give it to or use it in their upcoming auction. The HEXBUG creatures come in 5 different colors and 5 different creatures. We have also tried out the nano. The nano is 9.99 and the HEXBUG’s are 11.99.

Toy Story 1 & 2 Blu-ray Combo Packs, if you can wait until Easter. We couldn’t wait, we purchased them the week they were released. Best of all, they come with movie tickets to see Toy Story Three!

My daughter requested these (Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs) and I had an offer to review them, but I just didn’t think I would have the time to play with them before Easter arrived and give them their own post. But according to friends that are reviewing them, they are worth mentioning in an Easter Basket Roundup.

Last spring, parents hunted for Techno Source’s Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs™, which sold out by Easter.  These popular electronic eggs that talk, giggle, and make silly noises are back and available at even more retailers nationwide.

clip_image001

Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs put a super fun twist on the standard egg hunt game.  Simply press the on/off button on the eggs and hide them in creative places to start the egg hunt fun.  For up to 30 minutes, or until the eggs are found, they will shout phrases such as, “Yoo-hoo, I’m hiding!” and “I’m Over Here.”  Once they are found, open them up to see the cute bunny or baby chick inside and hear them say, “Surprise, You Found Me!” Eggs come in six different colors: pink, blue, purple, yellow, green and orange.  They have enough room inside to hide candy or small prizes and can be hidden indoor or outdoor for year-round fun.  Batteries included.

Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs will be available for purchase at Kmart, Rite Aid, ShopKo, Target, Toys “R” Us, Walgreens, Wal-mart, and Wegmans stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com.  Eggs are sold individually ($4.99) and as a 4-pack ($14.99).  Appropriate for children ages 2 and up.

Zhu Zhu Pets are lots of fun as long as you don’t let your children put them on their head. My daughter got her hair stuck in one and we had to take it apart to get her hair out.

Last Year Zhu Zhu pets sent us the entire set so that we could through a Zhu Zhu Pets party. It was a lot of fun and everyone went home with a pet and one lucky mom went home with the entire playground.
