MAM Infant and Toddler Product House Party

By Reviewer Summer:

You know how you have one brand you love for something. When it came to baby needs, especially my pacifiers, it was MAM! It hadn’t started out that way, but our pediatrician actually recommended MAM and we’ve used their products now for almost 5 years between both of my sons.

The reason my pediatrician recommended MAM pacifiers is because they have a ball shape on the end instead of a triangle look:

clip_image002 clip_image004

The ball is easier to hold in whereas the triangle is easy to accidently pushed out with the tongue. This is the problem we were having when our first son was young. Since he accepted the MAM pacifier he was hooked. Pacifiers are great for reducing your baby’s risk of SIDS [Sudden Infant Death Syndrome]; doctors predict that pacifiers have this effect because of the consciousness needed to maintain a comforting suck on the pacifier throughout sleep.

But MAM isn’t just pacifiers! We got to sample MAM anti-colic bottles and nipples, oral care wash clothes, toothbrushes, and teether thanks to the PR firm Child’s Play Communication and their house parties. Here clip_image006is why I love these other MAM products:

· MAM Anti-Colic Bottles – No only do they help your baby take in less air causing less gas which can equal pain and colic, these bottles are EASY to sterilize which means less work for you! The MAM anti-colic bottles have a screw off bottom which can be filled with water, then you place the nipple on top, add the bottle cylinder, and the ring with plastic cap; microwave for 3 minutes. These are great for all babies, not just babies with colic.

clip_image008· MAM Oral Care Rabbit Wash Cloth  – Besides being SUPER cute! These bunnies will begin your infant’s oral care. My pediatrician and pediatric dentist told me to use a wash cloth on my sons’ teeth when they were first erupting. I wish I had this for my children, though my time for this product has past. Your fingers are completely covered for sterilely and proper cleaning the entire tooth removing plaque with its texture. You can get this rabbit washcloth in pink and blue.

clip_image010· MAM Training Toothbrush – If you have a child you may already know this but as a first time parent I didn’t, you need a small toothbrush for baby/toddler’s small mouth. Yeah that sounds logical, but if only I knew it. MAM has one more up on you though; their training toothbrush offers nice grips for you and a gum massager on the other end for your child. You can also get a MAM tooth brush set for only $6. Your baby will need fluoride though you should not brush your child’s teeth with fluoride until they can spit; consult your pediatric dentist. A note on fluoride, most city water supplies have fluoride included for the better of the population; if you live on well water you do not have fluoride added.

clip_image012· MAM Teether – I have a MAM’s Bite & Brush Teether and that’s exactly what it sounds like … MAM has made a teether soft for chewing with new teeth, erupting teeth, swollen gums, and pre-teething gums. The brush bite also offers texture for cleaning new teeth. If you stick this teeth (which is solid plastic, not filled with water or gel) in the freezer your child will love to gum and brush with this teether to sooth any oral pain.

CoCooi Baby Wrap From Merino Kids made a donation and are providing a #giveaway

Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap Swaddle, Periwinkle BlueMerino Kids sent me a CoCooi to review and use as a donation. I opened it and felt it and yes it was soft. It was a very soft pale blue in color and thin. I liked that it was think want to know why? Babies can get so hot so easily when they are bundled and they do sleep best and most safely when they are bundled up tightly. Being bundled reminds them of how cramped they were inside of the womb and also keeps them warm and safe. Keeping them bundled helps prevent Sids.

My son would often get too hot, and we had to just use blankets. I was looking at the design of the cocooi and I really liked it. It’s simple and you put your child in it, then you just use the sides to wrap around the baby tightly. It is a lot easier than what they show you in the hospital with receiving blankets and I did that twice.

October is SIDS awareness month and here are some companies that support awareness

October is SIDS awareness month. Thankfully the number of death is declining, but SIDS still claims the lives of almost 2,500 babies every year. The way to keep lowering this number is to raise awareness and help parents to keep their children safe as possible in their cribs. I have a second cousin who lost a baby to SIDS. She reminded me not to be so careless, so that’s one reason why I wanted to post on SIDS.

What is SIDS?
SIDS stands for Sudden infant death syndrome. SIDS is the unexplained death of an infant younger than 1 year. The peak age for SIDS is between 2 and 3 months of age. Although the exact cause for SIDS is unknown, there are ways to protect your infant from SIDS.

Halo SleepSackBill Schmid founded Halo after he and his wife Cathy lost their baby to SIDS. Halo’s mission is simple: to make sure that every baby sleeps safely. Halo Sleep Sack is a proud supporter of SIDS Awareness and they have a facebook page dedicated to helping bring awareness to parents. HALO SleepSack

SLEEP IN SAFETY, GROW IN STYLE campaign aims to educate and raise public awareness about what constitutes a safe sleep environment for infants and how to set up precautionary safe sleeping environments for babies that can cost less, be beautiful and comforting, grow with your child, and most importantly – significantly reduce the risk of sleep related infant deaths.

Steps to Take to keep your baby safe

1. Always lay your baby to sleep face up. Side and tummy positions are not safe; check with your doctor if your baby has breathing problems.
2. Don’t smoke while pregnant and never smoke near your infant. While pregnant or considering pregnancy do not smoke. Never let others smoke near your baby. Smoking is a major risk factor for SIDS.
3. Don’t let your baby get too hot. Overheating is a leading risk factor for SIDS. Dress your baby in as much or as little as you would wear. If your baby is sweating, has damp hair, or a heat rash, he or she may be too hot. Room fans have been shown to reduce the risk of SIDS. Consider using a wearable blanket or
other type of sleeper instead of using a blanket.
4. Lay your baby to sleep in an approved crib, on a firm mattress. Do not let the baby sleep on soft things, like a couch, pillow, sheepskin, foam pad, or waterbed. Remove all loose bedding, stuffed animals, and pillows from crib. Crib bumpers are not recommended and can be hazardous.
5. Create a healthy lifestyle for you and your baby. When pregnant, see your doctor often and do not use drugs or alcohol. Talk with your doctor about changes in your baby and how your baby acts.
6. If possible, breastfeed your baby. Breastfeeding has been shown to reduce the risk of SIDS.
7. Offer your baby a pacifier at all sleep times. Pacifiers have been shown to reduce the risk of SIDS.
8. Put your baby on his or her tummy to play when your baby is awake and supervised. Make sure someone is always watching. “Tummy Time” is good for your baby because it makes neck and shoulder muscles stronger.
9. Don’t share sleep surfaces. Adult beds, couches, and chairs are not safe for infant sleep and increase the risk of SIDS, suffocation and accidental infant death. After feeding, put your baby back in his or her crib.
10. Share these tips with everyone who cares for your baby. Education is the key to keeping your baby safe.
