Layout 1ABOUT THE FILM
Grace (Eva Mendes) is a single mom. She is too busy juggling work, bills, and the very married Dr. Harford (Matthew Modine), to give her daughter, Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) the attention she desperately needs. When Ansiedad’s English teacher, Ms. Armstrong (Patricia Arquette), introduces her students to classic coming-of-age stories, Ansiedad is inspired to skip adolescence and jump-start her life without mom. While Grace becomes preoccupied with the increasing affections of her co-worker (Eugenio Derbez), Ansiedad enlists the help of her loyal friend, Tavita (Raini Rodriguez), to plot her shortcut to "adulthood". But as her misguided plan unravels, Ansiedad and Grace must learn that sometimes growing-up means acting your age.

WRECK-IT RALPH hits theaters everywhere on November 2, 2012

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore (TV’s “The Simpsons,” “Futurama”) take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in “Wreck-It Ralph.” Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” “Step Brothers”) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, “30 Rock”), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch, TV’s “Glee”) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman, “The Sarah Silverman Program”) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late? “Wreck-It Ralph” crashes onto the big screen on November 2, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Walking the Red Carpet to Disneynature’s Chimpanzee

I have to say that walking the red carpet will never get old and become routine for me. Seeing people that I’ve heard about and admired for years like Jane Goodall will always be humbling and I hope that sharing these photos with you will make you feel like you were there with me.

Jane Goodall:

“Yes. Everybody who goes to see this film in its first week, the Jane Goodall Institute gets a percentage to the ticket sales, and all of that money is going to actually help us look after our little Oscars. We put a sanctuary with over 150 orphan chimps whose mothers were killed in the bush meat trade. And it’s very expensive, looking after them, and right now we’re struggling to get the funds to prepare the big island in the middle of the river.

Which will make a safe place for the adults, for some of our orphans and our full-grown. And they’re very smart. They learn how to escape, and that’s dangerous for them, and it’s very dangerous for our staff. So it’s a bit desperate. We need to raise this money.”

The Directors Alastair Fothergill & Mark Linfiled and Jane Goodall:

“the scientists have been working with those chimpanzees for 30 years and never ever seen that to happen. And so for that to happen was fantastic for Oscar, but, my goodness, you know, if we’d written the script exactly as we’d wanted, we wouldn’t have, in our wildest dreams, have that happen, and it’s just such a lovely story, because male chimpanzees are such macho guys. I mean, they are. Their brains are a third as big as ours, but they have three times as much muscle. And when you meet them they are just…oh.”

Behind The Disneynature Movie Chimpanzee Interview with The McClain Sisters

"We are beyond happy to be joining the Hollywood Records family,” shared the McClain Sisters. “Music has always been a part of our lives and now we cannot wait to share our music with everyone.”

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - APRIL 13: The Mc Clain Sisters attend the World Premiere Of Disneynature's Chimpanzee on April 13, 2012 at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. (Photo by Gerardo Mora/Getty Imagesfor Disney)

clip_image001The McClain Sisters are quite openly Christians and three strong young women who strongly believe in the unity of family. These three girls love their parents and look up to them for inspiration and strength. They say they are who they are because of the strength and guidance they get from their parents. It was quite a testament to me that parents can raise strong well articulated women to make a difference in this world and I pray for that for my own daughter. She can make a difference too.  Disney’s Friends for Change enables children to make change, to rise above their circumstances and improve their communities which also happens to illustrate the main theme of the Disneynature film Chimpanzee.

“it’s mostly about unity. The unity in the movie was just really amazing, ’cause they couldn’t really do anything without each other, and they were never far away from each other, and that was really good.” (from one of the McClain Sisters)

Since Friends for Change the McClain sisters said they’ve been inspired in so many different ways:

And, um, since Friends for Change, we’ve started recycling and turning water off [OVERLAP] —

SIERRA : Turning the water off.

SISTER : Exactly, exactly.

SISTER : And lights.

SISTER : Exactly. Stuff like that, so it’s really changed our lives, and we were really excited.

Character: Freddy and Oscar.

Chimpanzee’s song Rise was created by the McClain Sisters. They saw a very early version of Chimpanzee and used Oscar and his ability to rise above his circumstances, and how the group of his family of Chimpanzees worked together to stay strong keeping a rival group of Chimpanzees from taking their land. I’ve heard the song a few times and it’s just as inspirational as the story of Oscar. Sierra specifically said, “You know, when, hopefully, everybody saw the movie, but when he lost his mom. And probably when — a lot of the battle scenes too because it’s a very inspirational record, and it’s uplifting, you know, and it’s spiritual and that was a big thing for the movie, you know, how they all had to stick together if they wanted to survive, you know, they had to be together, you know, and the lyrics was, "Together we’ll rise””

NK2_3102

I really loved listening to The McClain sisters, they’re such wonderful role models for young kids. They use each other for strength. Sierra said, “You know, I really don’t know what I would do without those two, so, definitely, just to stick close, like I can’t even stress that enough. You know. Just to — you know, with your family, you know, it’s important to have that strong foundation, you know, with every family member.”

Disney and Global Resort Homes paid for most of the expenses for the Chimpanzee Red Carpet Premiere.

Behind the Disneynature Movie Chimpanzee: Interview with Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall has been working with Chimpanzees for years and years. She wanted to work with them since she read the book Tarzan and she joked with us that the book is so much better than all of the movie versions. So I’m thinking about reading it myself. Not only has she worked with Chimpanzees for many years, she’s also made a difference in the lives of children for years. She has opened schools and teaches children to make a difference in our world. Our children need to recycle, reuse and believe in themselves. Plus we all need to start understanding where our products come from, what’s in them, and how were they made. She’s so passionate about it she almost cursed saying…..”but it’s really rubbish to think that you’ve got to be cold and objective. And quite honestly, that’s what [STUTTERS] has gone wrong with the planet. We’ve lost the wisdom of making a decision today based on, "How will this affect our people generations ahead?"LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - APRIL 13: Dr. Jane Goodall, founder of Jane Goodall Institute attends the World Premiere Of Disneynature's Chimpanzee on April 13, 2012 at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Jane Goodall is a gentle flower until it comes to people that are not taking care of the Earth. People say that we are borrowing the earth from our children but she says we have been “stealing stealing stealing” and we need to stop and start making a difference. It’s up to us. She said it’s one of the reasons why she’s so passionate.

NK2_2923

“But the reason I am so passionate about our youth program, Roots and Shoots, is because we have to raise a new generation to understand that, yes, we need money to live, but we wouldn’t live for money. And we need all of — all of the adults to admit that we haven’t inherited this planet from our parents but borrowed it from our children. We have to admit that’s wrong. We’ve been stealing from our children. We’re still stealing. We have to get together, if we care about conservation of chimpanzees.”

Character: Oscar. Description: Oscar swinging from a branch.

She was asked about her thoughts on the movie Chimpanzee and she said, “Uh, the crew, the film, sound, the effort that they made, the footage that they got, is stunning. And the story that unfolded is magical. And, you know, if Disney had planned it, they couldn’t have planned such an extraordinary story. So, very amazing.”

We also wanted to know how rare is it for an alpha male to take in a baby Chimpanzee? Her response was, “Well, we, normally, at Gumby, we’ve had, um, brothers adopt their little infant sister or brother. We had one 12-year old that’s like a human 15 or 16 adopt an unrelated infant. And over all these 52 years, I’ve heard of one other story of an alpha male adopting an infant, so it’s very rare. Very rare.”

Character: Freddy and Oscar.

One of my readers wanted to know if she had ever been injured and she immediately showed me her two thumbs in response. Once when she was visiting a chimpanzee that was in a testing facility that she HATES by the way. She said they are working very hard to bring an end to testing and observing the Chimpanzees in a cage. That Chimpanzee bit her thumb. You see she also said that the most common misconception with Chimpanzees is that they can be pets and they stay cute and safe to be around. Chimpanzees are wild animals and it’s important for us to remember that fact. It’s also very important to remember that every decision we make can affect the environment and we need to teach our kids to be aware and make a difference.

Thank you to Disneynature for giving me this amazing opportunity to meet and interview someone who has such a passionate message to share who makes a difference in our world every day. Disney paid for most expenses, not all on this press trip.

Highly Recommended Disneynature’s Chimpanzee

See Disneynature’s Chimpanzee in Theaters Friday April 20th

Chimpanzee starts off following the chimpanzee family that Oscar was born into deep in the forests of Africa. Chimpanzee is a True-Life Adventure, that they almost didn’t capture, I’ll explain that in more detail in a moment. Oscar has quite an entertaining approach to life, he’s the rambunctious child that wants to play and stir up trouble as any young toddler does. His story is a remarkable story of family bonds and individual triumph. Oscar’s playful curiosity and zest for discovery showcase the intelligence and ingenuity of some of the most extraordinary personalities in the animal kingdom. Oscar’s family at first glance is a regular family of chimpanzees. They work together every day to find food and teach the young. Each mother takes care of her child and they are an organized bunch when it comes to taking care of each other.

Character: Oscar.

During the movie we learn of another chimpanzee family that is trying to move in on Freddy’s land, the savvy leader of Oscar’s family. He watches the boarders and leads them to food and safety every day.
One day when Oscar’s family is confronted by the rival band of chimps his mother Isha was injured and that night she disappeared. Oscar is now left to fend for himself until a surprising ally steps in and changes his life forever. Which is when Disneynature found their story. They were about to wrap up filming with no real story when the most unexpected thing happened. Usually when a baby chimpanzee is left alone without a mother he usually dies. Oscar didn’t give up. He went up to every mother and begged to be taken care of. Each time being turned down. He finally decided to hit up Freddy and the most unexpected thing happened. Freddy took care of him.

Character: Oscar. Description: Oscar swinging from a branch.

I loved watching this story and HIGHLY recommend it for many ages. I would take my four and five year old to see it without thinking twice. I loved it more than I loved African Cats and I liked that one a lot. Oscar and the other Chimpanzees look right into the cameras and steal your heart with their faces and expressions as they communicate with each other.

Did You Know:

· “Chimpanzee” is the fourth release for Disneynature, the first new Disney-branded film label from The Walt Disney Studios in more than 60 years.  The label was launched in April 2008 to bring the world’s top nature filmmakers together to capture a variety of wildlife subjects and stories.

· The first three releases under the Disneynature label—“Earth,” “Oceans” and “African Cats”—are among the top four highest grossing feature-length nature films of all time.

· Walt Disney was a pioneer in wildlife documentary filmmaking, producing 13 True-Life Adventure motion pictures between 1948 and 1960, including “Seal Island” (1948), “Beaver Valley” (1950), “The Living Desert” (1953) and “Jungle Cat” (1958).  The films earned eight Academy Awards®.

Travel and some expenses to the premier were covered by Disney. I had to cover a few things too.
