Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Great Outdoors Mickey Mote

Are your kids ready for an outdoor adventure. Mine have been stuck indoors for MONTHS. You know in the Pacific Northwest it rains September through June, so since we have about a month left of rain we’re just going to have to live vicariously though Mickey Mouse. On May 24th Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is going to explore the Great Outdoors in, Mickey Mouse clubhouse: Mickey’s Great Outdoors. Mickey and his friends Donald, Daisy, Goofy and you can’t ever forget Pluto right are going camping fishing and exploring.

I suspect that after watching this it will be easier to get the kids to go on an “outdoor adventure”. This great title is another Mickey Mote title. The Mickey Mote is great for the kids to use and interact with the story. If you use the Mickey Mote setting it stops regular play and asks the kids a question and they need to respond the correct answer in order to continue the storyline.

• Mickey’s Fish Story – Daisy wants to find a fishy-friend for her goldfish Goldy – and we help her find other goldfish in the Jungle where we’re aided by the mysterious conga drummin’ Jungle-Pete! Boom-boom-bap-boom!

• Mickey’s Camp Out - Today Mickey and his friends are going to earn Clubhouse “Camp Out Badges” by completing two tasks – setting up camp and fishing for Gummy Fish. Everyone’s planning to camp with a “Tent Buddy”, but Donald decides to camp by himself – and he soon learns that camping with friends is much more fun than camping by yourself.

• Mickey and Minnie’s Jungle Safari - Minnie is determined to snap a photo of the rare Hula Hibiscus that only blooms once a year. So the sensational gang go off on a jungle safari and explore new territory to find this legendary flower.

• Daisy in the Sky - On Balloon Day, Daisy grabs a large batch of balloons and gets literally carried away along with Minnie and Pluto, who couldn’t hold her down. Mickey, Donald and Goofy kick into high gear to save their friends: they use a Giant Candy Cane (to rescue Pluto), a Party Horn (to warn animals out of the way), a Piggy Bank (to weigh down one side of an elevator so that Mickey can reach the top of the lighthouse), and a Toy Hammer (to fix the Ferris wheel).

• Daisy’s Grasshopper - Daisy has a new pet grasshopper named Wilbur, but the playful hoppin’ fella hops away – and we help all our Clubhouse friends hop after him and find him before the end of the day. Boing-boing!

New Kids Remote Control Playhouse Disney Mickey Mote & DVD Sets

My children Zoe and Miles love to watch Playhouse Disney. We don’t have cable so our only opportunity to watch it is by DVD, or the occasional visit to grandma’s house. They are also very familiar with technology and can operate any remote in the house. However, they can recognize when something is special or meant for them. Disney created the New Mickey Mote and sent us one to review along with two compatible movies. You’ll be surprised to find that we did actually have a little trouble setting up the remote. The reason for that is because we couldn’t find an actual remote with an IR signal to the DVD player directly. Why, because we have been using a universal remote for all of our devices for over a year and we’ve moved within that time. We tired to use the universal remote to program the Mickey Mote but it failed. So while my husband is looking for the right kind of remote Zoe, Miles and I went ahead and watched the DVDs, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Numbers & Rounds, and Handy Manny Big Construction Job Review.

Zoe and Miles both enjoyed watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Numbers & Rounds, I even heard both of them counting. If I remember correctly it was watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse where Miles first learned how to count.

How To Set Up Your Mickey Mote

First you need to put a battery in the remote, it does not come with one so you’ll need to find some AAA batteries. Then you will need to turn on the remote by pressing and holding down any two buttons until the green light between the ears comes on. Then you need to place the Mickey Mote flat on a surface with a DVD remote control facing it also on the flat surface, about three inches apart. Press the UP button on the DVD remote 4 times slowly. After each of your first 3 presses the green light on the MICKEY MOTE will go off – then come back on. Then after the fourth press, the green light will flash quickly, and then turn off and come back on. Then repeat the steps for each of the other buttons with the corresponding action from the DVD remote control. See photo for a guide.

How The Mickey Mote Works:

On November 16th Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release the Mickey Mote! The Mickey Mote works with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes Discovery Mode(tm), the interactive "Watch & Play" feature on the DVD! All parents have to do is program the remote control – there’s an easy and quick set-up guide in each DVD- and select the Discovery Mode feature on the menu screen. Within minutes, kids will be easily responding to questions, throughout the story, about scenes they just watched (such as "What color is Goofy’s hat?") by pressing one of four color-coded buttons on the device — a yellow star, green circle, orange triangle or blue square – to click in their responses. Discovery Mode features include two levels of play, which provides more challenging questions as the child grows.
