Five Benefits for Keeping a Journal by Marlise Karlin

Marlise Karlin has launched "The Stillness Journal" and she has been a guest on Mom Start before. So I was quite happy to share more tips from Marlise with all of you again.

Marlise Karlin Headshot1. Reduces Stress: Journaling allows you to quiet the mind-chatter by writing about your most personal thoughts and true feelings without judgment. It gives you an opportunity to analyze, release and resolve old patterns, frustrations or concerns that are holding you back or causing you stress and anxiety, and to look at issues from a different perspective.

2. Inspires Creativity: The physical act of writing occupies your left brain which frees up your right brain to tap into creativity. Your journal is like an open canvas that inspires you to bring your thoughts, hopes and dreams to life through words and illustration.

3. Clarifies Your Goals: Nothing can solidify your goals and aspirations more than permanently writing them down on paper. Setting an intention and reviewing it consistently draws the energy and strength you need to stay on the path to achieving them.

4. Brings You Peace: When you call upon and connect with that deep well of inspiration that exists in your heart, you experience greater levels of peace, love, compassion, confidence, wisdom and health in your life.

5. Encourages Reflection: Most people spend their entire lives looking for answers outside themselves. By integrating time for journaling and Stillness, you begin to look inside yourself and live from a higher level of consciousness that aligns you with your personal truth.

Guest Post – Marlise Karlin is offering Mom Start Readers Six positive Tips to release Holiday Stress

clip_image0011. Express: Become aware of why you are stressed and speak about what’s not working – try pacing in your living room – until you’ve said everything you needed to say (Do this when you are alone – so you can really shout it out in a ‘I’m mad as hell” kind of way.) Keep pacing until you have nothing left to say. At this point, you will feel a shift in the stress.

2. Write: If you haven’t formulated what the upset is – or have a hard time expressing yourself, then get out a pen, or sit in front of your computer – and just begin writing. You will be amazed at what pours out.

3. Reboot with The 3 Breath Awareness® – Take 3 DEEP breaths, each one focused on releasing any tension in your body – and focused on connecting to that tranquil place of Stillness within.  Envision the silent power of a red rock mountain in Arizona, or the calming blue waters of the Adriatic Sea – and with each breath feel that infinite peace expanding.  Take it with you as you continue your day.

4. Get Going:  Change locations – get a different perspective – move away from your desk, your home or your environment and feel the mind relaxing as you get involved in other activities.  Take a walk, a drive, or even go shopping – holding the vision you are going to find the perfect gift at the perfect price. Enjoy the festive surroundings.

5. Smile & Laugh:  Sadly, sometimes we’re in such a rush or so distracted, we need to remind ourselves to smile and enjoy the holiday season.  Heart to heart conversations with friends, or even complete strangers, can change our state of mind so quickly.  Talk to the sales person, the woman waiting in line, the child trying to decide what they want, the young person trying on new clothes. Watch your worries fade away and a warm smile engulf your beautiful face.

6. Gift Yourself: Buy one for yourself – you deserve a treat. You have added enjoyment to people’s lives today simply by smiling and spreading a bit of good cheer, heart to heart.  At this time of year when so many people are depressed, you have gotten out of negativity and discovered tools to shift the stresses we live with daily.  Even if it’s only something simple – reward yourself.

Marlise Karlin teaches people how to reboot their lives through The Simplicity of Stillness®, a simple method she created after having a series of profound experiences shift her perspective on life. The   Practices have benefited thousands of people all over the world.  To find out more about Marlise and the Stillness Sessions audio work, go to http://www.marlisekarlin.com

There Isn’t a Ceiling on Possibility

By Marlise Karlin

For years, women have been held back by the infamous ‘glass ceiling’  and have also felt stifled or riddled with restrictive thoughts running through their minds daily when it comes to both their personal and professional goals:

‘Why even try?  It’s too hard.  It will never happen.’

When resignation and anxiety weave through our minds like a sticky web of confusion – it’s time to play “The Possibility of Five.”

We all have to deal with the practical of life where the path we take appears blocked.  But, when we realize it might be happening to enlighten us of ‘adjustments’ we need to make – the door to possibility opens.  It’s then we can choose new ways to approach where our mind has been spinning in misery and misconception.

The Possibility of Five:

Look for what challenges you most. Find the five possibilities that create a solution – ones that will make you love life again – allowing you to know the world isn’t black & white – but many shades of exquisite gray.

1) Slow your mind and connect to your source of inspiration by tapping into Stillness, whether it’s in a few deep breaths or a longer session.

2) Review the question in your mind that has you asking for new answers. Let it stroll through the Stillness until ideas arise.

3) List at least five possibilities in a journal that lead will lead to positive outcome.

4) Feel the weight being lifted from your shoulders as you see there is always more than one-way it-has-to-be.

5) Empower yourself to take inspired action on the possibilities that now lie ahead of you.

No matter whom the individuals are that surround you, no matter what cynicism grips them – are a generous, empowering, inspiring source of energy that can shift concepts in a moment and bring the power of possibility alive.

When we are connected to that core of strength, love and potential that exists within every human being – doors open to more possibility than we ever dreamed.  Why not try it now with your child, yourself, and your mate.

Each of the four Smile Squad heroes – Sparkle, Glint, Pearl and Chomp – represents an important aspect of maintaining good oral health. The heroes utilize good habits and smart actions to combat Captain Cavity and the efforts of his malevolent Mouth Marauders to wreak havoc on children’s oral health.

The Web site features illustrations and bios of all heroes and villains, serves as the headquarters for the Smile Squad heroes and offers a variety of activities for children and parents to enjoy while immersing themselves in positive dental health information.

A few of the activities include:

By matching hero and villain cards with oral health action cards, players score points toward the goal of 32 points – the number of permanent teeth in a healthy smile.

· Join the Smile Squad – An invitation to join the Smile Squad allows kids to create personal characters and playing cards. To join, kids must download and print out a pledge card, declaring their commitment to practice good oral health habits as an honorary member of the Smile Squad.
